SSL (secure socket layer) is a protocol that allows the secure transmission of data over the internet.
When you visit a website that uses SSL, your browser Will establish a secure connection with the server. This information will encrypt all of the data that is exchanged between the browser and the server making it more difficult for anyone to intercept and read the data. Most of the secure websits uses a valid SSL from trusted SSL certificate providers.

A secure socket layer(SSL) is a bit of code on your webserver that provides security for online communication. When a web browser contact your secure website the SSL certificate enables and encrypted connection. It like sealing a letter in an envelope before sending it through mail

The procedure of How SSL works:
  1. A program or server endeavours to interface with a site (for example a web server) got with SSL. The program/server demands that the web server distinguish itself.
  2. The web server sends the program/server a duplicate of its SSL certificate.
  3. The program/server verifies whether it believes the SSL authentication. Provided that this is true, it makes an impression on the web server.
  4. The web server sends back a carefully marked affirmation to begin an SSL-encoded meeting.
  5. The encoded information is divided among the program/server and the web server.
There are many advantages to utilizing SSL authentications. In particular, SSL clients can:
  • Use HTTPS, which evokes a more grounded Google positioning.
  • Make more secure encounters for your clients.
  • Construct client trust and further develop changes.
  • Safeguard both client and interior information.
  • Scramble program to-server and server-to-server correspondence.
  • Increment security of your portable and cloud applications.

In simple terms, SSL works by establishing an encrypted connection between two computers. Each computer generates a pair of keys: a public key and a private key. The public key encrypts the data that is being sent, while the private key is used to decrypt the data on the receiving end.

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is now known as TLS (Transport Layer Security) and it's a protocol that provides secure communication over the internet.
Here's how it works:
  1. SSL Handshake: A browser attempting to connect to a website using SSL initiates an SSL Handshake with the server. During this process, the browser and server agree on the encryption standards they will use to communicate.
  2. Certificate Exchange: The server then presents its SSL certificate to the browser, which verifies it using a trusted certificate authority. This certificate contains the website's public key and identifies the website as a trusted source.
  3. Key Generation: The browser and server use the SSL certificate to generate a shared secret key, which they use to encrypt all further communication between them.
  4. Data Transfer: Once the SSL connection is established, all data transmitted between the browser and server is encrypted and decrypted as it passes over the internet, providing a secure and private connection.
The main purpose of SSL is to provide security for sensitive information transmitted over the internet, such as passwords, credit card numbers, and other personal information. When a user visits a website that uses SSL, their browser establishes an encrypted connection with the server, ensuring that any data transmitted between them cannot be intercepted and read by a third party.

The SSL certificate authenticates the web server and creates a secure connection across the server that hosts the website and a user's web browser. This safe channel is unable to be accessed, protecting information as well as data transfer.

It's therefore the responsibility of the webmasters to ensure that their websites are encrypted with the valid SSL certificate from the certified issuing authorities. This would protect the vital data of their website visitors from vulnerability by the third parties.

There is no reason to launch your website without an SSL certificate. SSL is free and can be easily configured (there's also tutorials on YouTube).
And creators would give to visitors some trust in their website with an SSL certificate

Data integrity is also guaranteed by SSL in addition to encryption. This means that no unauthorized parties can change or modify the data while it is being sent between the user and the server. The connection is promptly cut off if any tampering is found.

A valid SSL certificate is therefore recommend for the total security of the data between the users and the server. Most of that I think the wordpress have a free version for the encryption of the same.

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It is a cryptographic protocol that is used to secure communications over the internet. SSL works by encrypting data so that it cannot be read by unauthorized parties. This makes it ideal for transmitting sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and passwords.
