How does it feel to fire someone as an owner of a business ?

It never a good feeling because you know that someone is losing his or her daily bread.I can remember when I was in charge of a building site and was to pay workers after the usual day's work,a particular worker kept being sturbborn and was never punctual to site.

He comes in late and wants to leave early. while others are working,he will be busy with his phone,he never want to take instructions or corrections and was quarrelsome too.I never believed a guy could behave that way,he was really delaying the work of others.I think he was less beneficial to the work in progress so I had to fired him.

I felt bad doing that because he might be going through one stress or the other but the job was suffering and the work needed to be done,so it was better he goes to sort out his problem while the work continues smoothly. So I think employers don't feel good sacking a worker.

Thats nice to know buddy. Its really different when you see it from other perspective ( your perspective as a person in charge ) . Its very good knowing that its not easy for the bosses as well.Thank you for letting me know how you felt = )

it depends, if boss is cruel he would be happy that he make hurt someone but if a kind hearted boss fired someone he would repent on this.

I have mostly worked with contractors and subcontractor. So I never got the chance to fire someone. I just stopped giving them work. And that can feel bad. I can understand how that feels. Because here you're working on a stream of income. And you take that away from them. And that's something you have to consider that you have to take strong decisions and fire people if possible. You don't have to do it in the harsh way but you can establish a pattern there that helps the people to not feel bad.

When I was still employed working for someone I think it was easier but when it was my turn to run my own business and practically do everything, that felt really awkward having to fire someone. So, I didn't really fire anyone even if most of the employees deserve to be axed. I was not prepared to face the repercussions of it. We are never sure what these people are capable of doing. I need to safeguard myself and protect the business that I started with sweat and literal tears. I know this is just one of those costly bad decisions I made.

That would be too rude though.Making someone lose the job because of your own satisfaction.Im not saying that there are no people like that, im sure there are. I would never do that.

I guess there is a way to make the person not feel completely ruined but its hard still because for some people that particular job could be the only job they want / could get . We all know how hard it is to get a job in undeveloped countries where there are lack of jobs.

Never owned a business but I have been an owner of a large online community. I had a staff team of that online community. Indeed, I had to fire a few staff members. The feeling was never good and I didn't want to demote them.

We all know it sucks when people get fired from their jobs , especially if they didn't deserve to be fired, but the real question is how does it feel to FIRE someone ?

It even feels terrible hearing your colleague being terminated for some unfair reasons. Usually in happens in an organization. But the most important thing is you have to make your organization feel that you are the most valuable associate they have. The feeling of firing somebody? That must be aweful. I haven't experienced yet though as I don't run my own business yet. Soon enough I will be.

Firing someone is also the same as banning someone from a site. I think the boss won't feel guilty especially if it is the employee who was in the wrong. I think firing an employee shouldn't be the first option. Talking to them and giving them a warning should be the first thing to do.

Yes I live in Asia so I know. I am one of them. The thing is that here you have qualfiied individuals. But there is a race for every single dollar. That's how the capitalism has ruined things. You just can't get things to properly work out. So firing someone is like destroying their family. And things just fall from there. I have seen this happening to me. and I am working a bit harder on that point. I guess we just have to see how that goes on in future once countries develop.

What do you think, what could they do ? What do you actually mean by you are not sure what they are capable of ? If the person is not working the job like he should/she should then the decision is simply to fire him/her .. Its the best for the business and maybe you could do that on a nicer way rather than just saying ur fired get out..

I think it depends. There are some persons, who handle very easily firing people, and persons, who search for every possible method not to fire people. This last category of persons are rare to find:Smile:

Two words, IT SUCKS. Lol weather in the real job or in online community. I have seen an actual situation, my boss who fires my co employee, i pity that man because i know him better than my boss, i cant anything i just froze. Man thats sucks.
Yes especially when the economy goes down. I know many who loathed the time when they had to fire like 100 people off company. And at the end they got fired bby the manager too. So that's something we have to learn as we speak as well. So it's some things like this we learn along the way. I am not sure how many of us want to hire and then fire. but for each one of us those things could be different from what I have seen.

yes it is, but people exists in this world with different nature. what can we do?
Nothing.. maybe we could say it on a nicer way.. I know it would not change anything since they are losing the jobs but maybe they are not going to take it as rough as they would if we are just rude ..

Well it depends on the reason. If the man really got us down and cheated me then i would feel good if not then i would feel bad.
I think we should do some research before firing someone as you know that the guy must have a family to support and it would be difficult for him to find a new job.....

I'm an emotional person. So to answer this question, I will terribly feel bad firing someone. I hate to do it, but for business matters, I will really have to. For we all know, the jobs we've got sometimes are our bread and butter. Some don't have jobs for extra income. What if the only job a person has to be able to feed his family is this certain job? And then I'll fire him. Wouldn't be a heartbreak for an employee? Maybe, I will just not have to own a business. I will carry the guilt for as long as I could if I'll fire someone.
