I was bragging about my 1000 friends on Facebook to a friend of mine, and he said that it's nothing. So, to market properly on Facebook, how many friends do I really need.
The second part of my question is, how do I go about marketing my stuff without appearing like a greedy bastard, I mean, how do you suggest a product to someone who has just wished you a happy birthday.

I personally think 1000 friends on facebook is just the minimum threshold you should have for marketing. If you have more than 3000 friends or more, then it would be a good start.
Or you can start a business facebook account and market through your facebook business page.

My goal is to get 5000 facebook friends.I have right now exatcly 4200 friends wow.Also I have 1 facebook site where I share sites where I make money and I have 148 likes and my goal is to get 10k likes.I have 3 facebook groups for make money ,in first group I have 3135 members,in second I have 1720 members and in third group I have 4350 members and those groups are growing very fast and my goal is 10k members in each group

I am sure you know there is some pages in Facebook where you can like and follow but cannot add friend, those are example of business facebook account where you can post your ads there, promote something there. Usually they are company. With many friends, you can share it and ask them to like , so they follow and see every page you've posted.

I get traffic only from Facebook groups, I post my affiliate links in a group which has something in common with the product/service I want to advertise. I don't think that spamming my friends with links about products they probably won't need is a good idea, they'll just ignore my posts like I do with some of my friends who keep posting content that is not relevant to me.

I Think for a business sake,you might need more than a thousand people,you could try get atleast 5000 people which I think it the limit friends for each facebook account.

Getting traffic from facebook depends solely on your content if you're trying to advertised your blog,try and write on interesting and valuable topics.If it a product the best bet is to hammer on the usefulness of your product.the benefits and reasons why they need the products.

Make sure that your products are of standard to have your customers do some referrals for you.your number one advertisers are your customers.

I dont think the formula is about having more friends. I'd say instead of friends one can make the page. And let people join it. And they can get the content through such pages. In some of the cases it'd be reasonable to say that facebook friends don't add much traffic. but page can be more useful in that case. it can bring more content. and that's the part one has to focus on. because page traffic with facebook articles cna be easy to monetize.

Try to add more than 4000 friends 5000 is better if you can.
Post attractive thumbnail on your site post and post link on facebook with that thumbnail.
YOu can also make a group because if you post in group all of your friends will recieve a notification.

A friend of mine told me yesterday that Facebook ads don't lead to direct sales, it's good just for traffic.

I used to work to a broadcasting company as a part time assistant to a celebrity and I really wonder on how they can promote theirselves. I just realize by social media. His manager added me on Facebook and almost all of his fans are adding me as well. Sometimes I really get confuse where did I meet this person and wonder what event I was able to encounter them. It's like we are consistently looking for reconnaissance from celebrities, even remotely, I've noticed that when I exceeded the 1500 friends, people start sending me invitations while I'm still a nobody.

First of all, I don't think having 1000 friends is enough. Second, I think even if you have lets say at least 3000 friends, you think you are all ready? No.The way you gonna approach those people is a really important part. You don't want to seem like a spammer nor to look like a bragger like you said yourself.You should be careful on how many posts per day you are doing and how often you do it. You don't want people banning you from groups and gaining bad reputation that way. Bad reputation = no sales.You're smart and I think you gonna find a way = )

Me too, and i believe this is the safest things to do so that the facebook will not delete your post or someone will report you as spammer that will lead to deactivation of your account. But if you really wanted to get more traffic you can avail their advertising package. They offer it in a very resonable price.

You can discreetly place your ad(maybe only one)on your Facebook page and your friends,who like the products will buy it without that you have to ask.
You can buy FB friends,there is a site online,but I don't remember his name.Just search it online.
