I have really been trying for years to develop my skills in writting and getting a gig online has been tough. I have a freelance account but I always have no luck getting bids. Some who have more experience and awards gets the job. Frustrating as it is I need to continue. Since I discovered writing as a hobby. I just love doing it and don't want to stop. Ever. Also the reason I don't get hired probably is that I'm somewhat choosy with the content's I want to write.

So back to the question. How can I start blogging without having to pay for hosting?

I'm a blogger also. I use wordpress.com platform for free website domain and free website hosting. But it has a sub domain .wordpress.com. If you're looking for a free hosting without sub domain, you can try 000webhost.com. I've encountered it before and many website owners use it. But I've never tried it up until now.

Hello Harvey! Thanks for being the first person to reply to my post! :-) I have been really eager to get some response asap. But, I also want to get my facts to get what are the pros and cons of the trade. Just to clear whatever inhibitions I have regarding this new venture I want to pursue.

I have been a contributor for one website before but its for free. I never really tried to monetize my work since I just love getting feedbacks in the forums before and interacting in the comments section.

Anyways, thanks for the heads up!
; -)

most bloggers would recommend wordpress, you may start with the given 000webhost.com and can easily install wordpress(build wordpress website) to start your blogging then decide later if you need a domain to remove the 000webhost for better ranking and traffic

others started with blogger, wix, weebly etc but I have seen blogs made from blogger itself and just purchased a domain to remove the blogspot.com extension to either .com .net etc

I saw someone mention 000webhost and although they offer free hosting, you'll have to set up everything by yourself as they don't have any CMS built in.

If you just want your blog up and running as quickly as possible for free, you should probably check out "Blogger", "Medium", "Wordpress", "Wix", or "Weebly".

Thank you for your input. Appreciated the effort. ✋

Hi! I did saw wix advertized on facebook. Thought I should give it a go! Please send me copy of link reviews from experienced bloggers who used these web hosting companies out there. Just want to have a weighing option before I decide. Thanks!

If you are technical person you can use Jekyll + GitHub pages. Best part is that you always have "a copy" of your blog on your system (since you will need Git to use Github).
The only issues is that you won't be able to get any input e.g users comment without using a backend service since each page of your blog is pre-generated.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will keep that in mind. B-)

Blogger.com contains no ads and you can build or upload themes.

By far the best choice.
I suggest you fork out a dollar or two and get a domain name on namecheap so you can brand your site more easily. Instead of yoursite.blogspot.com it will become yoursite.com or something else.

It also allows you to integrate Google Adsense or any other advertiser that works with HTML code.

You can see an example in my signature on how I build my site.

I believe all of the suggested options are incredible. What is missing in here is the fact that you can't monetize your work with adsense when wordpress.com, weebly etc is used as the tool for the creating of the website.

If you do not able to purchase web hosting than you can go for blogger . com here you can make an account and add your domain and I am sure you do not take any headache like https SSL security forever. It is run by Google and it is safe than other free hosting companies. If any server crash and you do not have backup then you will cry. Thus, I recommend you subdomain . blogspot com. convert to yourdomain . com

use the well known blogger free service , but the only annoying thing there is that you have to stick with that '.blogspot' in your website's url , but i find it fine since you don't have to pay anything + add your own theme ( a lot of free cool themes are available to download in internet ) and you can monetize that easily as well .

I like to use medium.com as you can blog for free on there, and they put no ads on it. You can also join their partner program, which is best for you if you write content that is interesting (e.g. opinions) rather than purely informational content (e.g. content that tells you how to make money online).
If your content doesn't take off there, you can try Steem - if you want to have a steem account quick, you can pay for one at steem.ninja, but you can also get one for free if you're prepared to wait 1-2 weeks. You get paid based on how many people upvote your content.
There are also services such as x10hosting that allows you to host any site for free, and wordpress and blogger that can host a blog for free too.

I agree that Medium is a great platform so start blogging as well you can try to blog at Steemit, you will be able to earn crypto if you write trending articles.

Do not go for the free hosting because you will receive handles like xxxxxx.blogpost.com that does not look really well.

i can not agree with medium or steemit as both are 3rd party system. Blogspot can be use as with any domain name with free of choice publisher ad-sense where as steemit you need voting and steem power which is not easy task as I have one too. If you know the easy path with 3rd party then I am also like to know about it. Medium is just a sharing revenue site and no idea about it. Looks like Hubpages. Hubpages was very reputed once a day!

You can start blogging without having to pay any cost at SteemIT platform. SteemIT is a platform where you can share your content and earn money. This is the best platform for bloggers. AS you can promote your content earn more money from it. There are so many Steem experts who can promote your content and help you to earn more money.

Yes, you can go with free hosting but they will delete your account any time. This is why people go for paid services. Also, this makes a brand where visitors can find them.

Get a paid domain name and go with free web hosting services.

Or just go to
blogger.com
wordpress.com
weebly.com
tumblr.com
hubpages.com - try this if you are expert writer.

These will give you free for everything. You just keep focusing on writing. But again here your blog may be deleted if you violate their terms and conditions (it happened with me).

Well, there is another way to show your writing...
You can join other bloggers. Know as a guest blogger.
Here you do not have to pay just visit the blog where the guest blogger is welcome. Best part is, they allow site link and social links...so you get the free promotion.
