Back in 2017 I bought a lot of Altcoins. And almost all of them fall like -90% or even -99%.

Is there any point in holding them any longer? Or just get rid of it and write it off?

There are altcoins like energi , Horizen , OGN cryptocurrencies which have the capacity to rise in price. It's better to hold only some of these kind of altcoins. You need bot hold cryptocurrencies like dogecoin because the value is almost constant.

You just have to research to find out which you need to let go now and those that have a future. Maybe you can keep the popular ones like BTC, dogecoin, litecoin etc. Some investment Don't turn out as we expected.

If your altcoins saw that tremendous drop, I advise you to sell it all before the prices hit zero. Only invest in well-known coins and stable coins.

I think most coins do rise as bitcoin rises, if they refuse to rise even when bitcoin and other coins rises then it is better to sell them off cos they don't seem to correspond to the crypto market activities

That's why the white paper for each coin is necessary and the group of people or companies that are into the project, for instance if Mr B decide to launch a coin today it may gain especially from members here and they will propagate it.

Exactly my point, you can only take a major decision when you are able to do a thorough research on which will be better, you can't just know from the peripheral.

I think buying altcoins is a good business if only you will be able to buy the right ones . some of the altcoins like REN has increased to an extent that users who bought it at first , gained a lot now.

I think buying altcoins is a good business if only you will be able to buy the right ones . some of the altcoins like REN has increased to an extent that users who bought it at first , gaining a lot now.

Thats the same issue am facing I bought some altcoin , but it hasn't rise to the expected amount I want I guess its better I trade them off to avoid more losd

it's kinda hard to predict which altcoin will go up though, and for how long can you wait for that specific coin to rise is also an added challenge

It depends on the altcoin you bought ,and also on the current price of bitcoin . This is because most times , once bitcoin is rising , altcoin are either stagnant , decreasing or rising with little rate .

Apart from the altcoin I bought some smaller coin it rose to about $7 and within a day it drops to about $4.60 , i guess most times it takes time for them to hit their former position unlike popular coins

Well this is a very contradicting question, bitcoin dominance is too high right now with a 62% above of all alt coins. Bitcoin might retrace a little, with binance opening withdrawal bitcoin might go down in dominance and let altcoin have some air to breathe (ALTs season!)

Most of the altcoin are down 100~200% when bitcoin decide to roar like crazy.

You might be looking at so much loss with alt coins right now if you sell and buy bitcoin.

In my opinion I would hold my alts and wait for pullback. Once bitcoin consolidate, dominance will be down or look for pull back and money will be pour back to alts.

For me I will look for alts that already reached bottom support, the very bottom.

After a year or two. he sold all of it at a very cheap rate because the value kept falling than what he ever expected. it's better you wait and make your research about it to know if it quite profitable

i say sell altcoins when the price is right, you cant hold them for longterm. longterm coins are bitcoin eth

yep , with new altcoins you always got to have patience and wait it out, though at the same time you have to be lucky also, as the coin you are hodling might be already thrash
