I see some alarming stories lately online, from people claiming Paypal is withholding their account balance for various reasons. I'm not talking about the "pending" state that Paypal enforces. Now, for some of the cases I read, the users were violating the Terms of Service by misrepresenting themselves as adults when they were minors, providing a false identity etc.
In one conversation on reddit a person claimed that Paypal will "use any excuse they find to keep your money", but I'm not sure how biased that view is. I guess that makes sense in a way, since it's a profit-geared service not unlike a bank, and some banks do this all the time.

Other things that can trigger a freezing or putting a cap on how larga amounts you can process per transaction, like making sudden purchases or transfers with large sums of money. In some cases people who launch their enteprises may be faced with this problem.

Series of chargebacks, bad reviews by other transacting parties, strange IP logins, suspicion of earnings from providing illicit content, products or services, or a bad credit score can be other reasons that attract Paypal's attention to your account.

There are instances of people receiving a 6 month balance-lockdown on balances worth thousands of dollars. While they rarely do this for periods of time >6 months, that small timeframe can be detrimental to people who pay bills through Paypal, or have their entire earnings and savings handled by Paypal.

Have you ever had these kinds of problems with Paypal?
I've never had problems with them, personally.

I don't remember if I ever had any serious problem,s with my Paypal account. In many cases, only if m y b browser froze I had to restart my computer but that was a technical glitch and it had nothing with the Paypal itself.
I think that their customer service is great and I hope I will keep on using g them as long I have a need for it.
The only thing that goes on my nerves is their high fee for the card transaction.

Now-a-days people are facing many problems paying money online because of hacking, phishing, lack of security .Despite of this, many are using online payment method for shopping or paying bills online.
Do you prefer online payment or not?
Are you victim by paying online?
Share your experiences with your buddies
paying online is much secure than offline, you can buy anything from your home

I had absolutely no trouble with paypal. It was all smooth sailing until the last transaction where they are not doing auto transfer to my bank account. They already had a rule that manual transfer needed more than 10 dollars. I have taken up this issue with them and they claim it is a technical issue and will be sorted out.
Still remember when paypal send automatically money to my bank account , at that time i always has problems with paying to facebook ads .

I personally never had problems with Pay pal, I've only had a few problems with the disput which I wrote and was only restored to 12% sum of money but that doesn't matter, another problem is that never in 100% of the time doesn't solve correctly these dispute but we ourselves what we pay everything and anything.

Nowadays all the online shopping sites are secure. Most of the people including me use online service rather than offline service. Paying money online is fast and more convenient. I always check for the secure logo on the top left of the screen.

If you are buying item far from you place or home its better to pay online. You just must be aware on how you gonna pay online. Look at the site either it is safe to do transaction or not. Make sure its from official bank site and not a pishing website. Be safe be smart and becareful

Well my internet service provider offers 10% discount when I pay online with my credit card.
This shows us how much paying online is easier an faster than paying with real cash!
When I use my credit card online I receive OTP (one time password) on my phone before completing the payment and this will protect everyone from almost all random hackers!

I prefer to make online payment because I think it is faster and convenient. I am a lazy type of person and prefer to stay in my comfort zone for most of the time. Meeting people and pay them real cash will only when I cannot pay them online. If you are using credit card, you also get bonus when you make online purchase which can be used to redeem something good.

I have never had issues with PayPal personally but my friend account a while back was limited for transferring bulk sum of money to another friend and I was like, the account would receive bulk money without stress but to move your money becomes a profit.

I think sometimes PayPal makes business transaction cumbersome and complicated. Someone need to pay $$$ amount of cash to a partner and PayPal would limit your account that the money you want to pay is too much as if it their money.isn't it my money again because sometimes I don't just understand, why withhold someone funds for days.

Sometimes it quite annoying and frustrating.

I had a problem with my paypal just today! Paypal made a sudden purchases in my account and almost all my online earnings was gone! I have 0,30 left in my balance. I contacted paypal, but still no reply till now. I am so frustrated! I wanna cry all day.[/QUOT
This is strange does it mean PayPal has access to our balance such that they make transactions on our behalf? If this is true then there is big problem

Are you sure nobody can get access to your account @De-rector ...

PayPal won't do such things but do not know there could be a tech issue. PayPal does not reply quickly to emails, even I got a reply to my question almost 4-5 days later.

Also, make a forum post there on paypal community...

I have never had any problem with PayPal myself but there is this friend of mine who had a serious one. She had 200$ in her account and the account was frozen due to providing wrong information while she was creating the account. The money is still frozen she has not had a solution with that.

Thankfully, I have not experienced any major problem with my Paypal account when it comes to all kinds of financial transactions. I have been able to receive my payments and also pay for some services without any issues. I had some minor problems which were eventually sorted out after I contacted customer care. In fact, I have also received a call from the Paypal customer care asking me whether my problem was resolved. However, I am relatively new to the freelancing business and I guess I may have to face problems in the future when my business grows and I have to take care of multiple transactions every day.

The only problem I have with paypal is that they are taking a long time to address my concern. It's been long exchange of emails but still nothing is settled. Im still waiting. I'm getting disappointed.

I think you will be good as long as you are using a business account to conduct business transactions. From my observations it's often a situation wherein personal PayPal accounts are being used for business purposes that they run the risk of being frozen.

On one occasion someone had her account frozen immediately after paying me. I only knew about it after she contacted me asking if I received the money. When I checked my account, that money had some sort of hold on it, which I had never experienced before. Whenever I received money it's usually available right then. Anyhow, PayPal released the money to me but for her the account remained frozen.

Based on their conversations, it was determined that she registered for a personal account but the recent transaction appeared to be one of business. They requested further documentation from her in order to switch to the appropriate type of account, as there were limitations attached to the personal account.

I had a PayPal account in the past that were frozen. I still don't know the reason to this, but after a few messages back and forth with a customer support agent, I managed to get back all my money by verifying my account with a credit card.

I have personally never had any problems with PayPal. It has always run smoothly for me with my transactions.

I have been using Pay Pal since 2009, and I have never had any problem with them. I had forgotten my password once, but it was easily retrieved by using my register email ID. Now in India we have to link our PayPal account with the account of our local bank. So whenever i receive any amount in my PayPal account it gets directly deposited in my Bank account after deduction of fees. I only use PayPal to receive money for completing online tasks.
