I see some alarming stories lately online, from people claiming Paypal is withholding their account balance for various reasons. I'm not talking about the "pending" state that Paypal enforces. Now, for some of the cases I read, the users were violating the Terms of Service by misrepresenting themselves as adults when they were minors, providing a false identity etc.
In one conversation on reddit a person claimed that Paypal will "use any excuse they find to keep your money", but I'm not sure how biased that view is. I guess that makes sense in a way, since it's a profit-geared service not unlike a bank, and some banks do this all the time.

Other things that can trigger a freezing or putting a cap on how larga amounts you can process per transaction, like making sudden purchases or transfers with large sums of money. In some cases people who launch their enteprises may be faced with this problem.

Series of chargebacks, bad reviews by other transacting parties, strange IP logins, suspicion of earnings from providing illicit content, products or services, or a bad credit score can be other reasons that attract Paypal's attention to your account.

There are instances of people receiving a 6 month balance-lockdown on balances worth thousands of dollars. While they rarely do this for periods of time >6 months, that small timeframe can be detrimental to people who pay bills through Paypal, or have their entire earnings and savings handled by Paypal.

Have you ever had these kinds of problems with Paypal?
I've never had problems with them, personally.

Payoneer is not as common as PayPal in my country. I will take it as alternative payment option if possible. I heard China people love to use it, if not mistaken.

One of my friends had her account hacked over there. Someone from another country tried to log on her account. Paypal promptly addressed the problem and the person couldn't steal anything from her account.

In fact, I have very good experience with Paypal, especially their Customer service her (Malaysia) except the rate is a big higher if compared to the peer.
I have extended enquiries twice via email regarding payment currency option and why did I need to submit for extra ID proof. The customer service replied via email and called me up at the end for solution.
At end of the call, they offered me with USD10 as appreciation token for either online shopping via PayPal or keep it in my account.Off course, I chose the second, the money still in my bank. Hehe!;)
In sum, I earned USD 20 from PayPal free. :p

Now-a-days people are facing many problems paying money online because of hacking, phishing, lack of security .Despite of this, many are using online payment method for shopping or paying bills online.
Do you prefer online payment or not?
Are you victim by paying online?
Share your experiences with your buddies

I prefer paying people online. I dont keep all the money in one place. Also I don't keep all the money accessible in one bank. This way I have managed to keep diversification of funds. Most of the time I keep the funds in wallet. And I don't store the cards in the wallet also debit card pin is changed every month or so. So this way I have managed to keep myself protected to some extent.

Online payments are way more convenient, especially when doing business with people overseas.
Try stay away from Western Union I would say, if it works for you great but I will not support them.
Use PayPal or Payza, much safer.
People get hacked because they open emails and click links / downloads with malware. They also fall victim to those "we need you to verify your account details"! This scam still gets so many people... I don't get it how gullible people can be but it's the sad reality.

I think that it is great. If you have a possibility to pay your bills on line, do it. It is much better to pay it on line than to stay in long rows and to pay high fees if you decide not to wait in a post office and choose some bank to pay your bills there.

My answer is YES, I prefer to pay online if there is no problem the place where from I will purchase.I love paying online because it save my time and make things so easy, I also love to get paid online.

So far, I wasn't defrauded from online payments yet. I do love paying online because it is convenient. For less worries, do not put your money in one place. So if a platform fails, at least you have another place where your money was stored.

Paying online is better and convinient, but one has to be security conscious so that their details won't be hacked. There are lots of hackers out there waiting to hack people's accounts.

Few weeks back, I received an email from a site informing me about my username and password. They created a password and username for me, asking me to use the information to log in their site.

How strange, I have never used that site before and it was my first time of knowing a site had that url. I didn't bother to click, I deleted the mail.

Since i use paypal mostly for buying stuff from ebay, sometimes ido have a problems, when ebay is not accepting payments from paypal. They give me some error code,or,similar.And.after few days, everything is normal.Maybe it's a bug or something, but as far i remember,it happens few times.

I never had the problem with paypal. But I am not going to risk my entire business on one payment processor. So I accept the payoneer and others. I don't want to waste lot of money on paypl's charges either. Payoneer is cheap and quick for bank transfer too. For every 20$ they only charge 2$. And for 100% their fee remains 3$. So lot more cheap than paypal.

This is the first time I hear about Payoneer. In my entire online work experience I always use PayPal as my payment processor, well in my case I never had a bad experience with PayPal so far but having an option now makes me feel really good. I will take a good look at Payoneer. Thank you so much.

Oh yes! I had this serious problem with PayPal when they made it limited. I did nothing wrong and I was so upset that it was limited for a month. To my annoyance, I commented negatively on a Facebook post on their page, and then they messaged me. I told my problem and they immediately fixed it.
That's nice move. Glad your issues were fixed. Anyway, I'm actually having a bit problem with my paypal now and messaged their email support team but they were useless. It's just like talking to an auto-responding machine or some sort. Well, is it Paypal Philippines in FB you messaged? or Paypal Global? I will also try to message them on FB. Thanks.

Payoneer is already a popular online payment processor which has its own MasterCard or debit card. You can also use it to verify your PayPal. Payoneer is even very popular for freelancers as clients use it for payment.

It would be great to try both. I can't remember if it is PayPal Philippines. Actually, there is an office of PayPal in Singapore. Not sure if I messaged that one. Email support is useless by the way.

Yes, I totally agree with you, their email support is useless. I tried to chat both paypal fb accounts but they asked me to call customer service instead. Maybe because my issue was about refunding my account with the verification charge though. My paypal account was verified last month but they charged me twice and never received the refund until now. :( I'll just probably file a dispute with my bank since paypal support is no help at all. :Banghead:

My account got limited with $18 negative balance as someone I have sold an AGC filed a chargeback from his credit card company and as PayPal does not cover digital goods sale, PayPal didn't hear to me. The PayPal account I am currently using is of my Mom's ID.

I do use online payment even to recharge my mobile balance.

Use online payment on the trusted website only. You can find reviews before paying to someone.

Use account where you have low balance if you do not have second then get one. Or simply get mobile wallet so you can transfer money as you need.

I never encountered such problem but several friends had. One reason, although I can't confirm was when a friend clicked the link received through email. After that, my friend told me that all her balance was gone and she has a negative balance. She was crying and I told her to change her email immediately and report the same to the management. I guess she lost enthusiasm in working online because I did not hear from her since then.

I am rapidly converting all my financial transactions to Online methods from Cash. Just a year ago, I used to pay all my bill in Cash. Now, I preferably use a digital wallet to pay my bill and get some lucrative cashbacks too. Even my parents started using digital money.

I don't see a reason why we would not pay online if it is more convenient than any other method.
Online payment scams are less frequent than a real life scams, so I don't see any reason in making the fuss about it.
Think only how much we have to pay in fees for our credits, bank cards, taxation etc...
Online frauds are just a little tiny drop in a sea of the unnecessary things that we pay every day for someone else's benefit.
