The strike is legally allowed in some countries and serves as a legal means of fighting for better workers' rights: better wages and working conditions, paid overtime hours. The strikes were frequent in history and sometimes successful, while sometimes the bosses simply ignored the workers. The strike is most successful if all workers participate in it.

Have you ever gone on strike at work and what rights did you claim?

The labour union in my has several times as ask us to embark on warning strikes on the point that our minimum wage should be implemented as supposed currently a strike is warming up as government is yet to implement the approved minimum wage.

Do you know how many people will join it and will you be paid even if you are in strike? What do you for living and is it public oppinion on yours side or employer?

if you're on some 3rd world country , it's no use to strike , protest or even try that , because nothing will be changed, just recently , a young dude that was protesting with teachers for their right , got killed ...

I live in 3rd world country Croatia and last strike give us some better Rights. We go salary little better. It is not as much they took from us during Financial crisis but we will get back everything.

a well it's kinda different when it comes to an european country , for example , i got a friend from Bosnia & Herzegovina , he told me that the economy there isn't at its top level , but he never complained about something regarding human rights or something like that

True, human Rights are very good here and we don't have such problems. We only need better salary and less coruption and faster goverment.

I have gone for strike but not as an employee but as a student in school. When the government failed to pay our teachers thus they went on strike and we have to go with them.

Did they got for what they fight? How long strike last? Nobody can't work without salary so I agree with that strike. You can't work with children if your kids are hungry at home.

oh you mean before i work under a boss or employer?
that was long time ago about 1993 to 1994

yes i can say i was even head of the strike,
was not completely desiring the way i got paid, i have no dayoffs as a supervisor, i worked like 18 hours a day with no overtime, finally it got to my head, then i headed the strike, we closed down the company for good.

proud of it?
no. actually became very sad everyday and got lonely
i cried i was instrument of closing down a company, it would be better if i just resigned and find another job.
that's part of my dark side.

Yea after three weeks of strike the government finally yielded to their request and they called of the strike . Indeed strike is not always good especially for health organization because they deal with lives .

It is not easy to anybody go to strike or even close Company but what are other ways to fight self for your right? How long could you manage work 18 hours a day without paid overtime? You can barely see anybody form family or friend but you also don't see any better money situation.

with my situation years ago, it's different im one of the pioneer employees, and i promised this, i was promised that, but of course you can't live on promises, but it turned out differently.

now i don't live on promises of other people i need cash now i say lol
well it's all in the past..

We do here almost all the time because of one demand or the other. The government is never willing to do right to her masses at the right until a weapon like the strike action is used to corce them which is a very unfortunate thing to me.

i remember the huge strike we have here, and there were tear gases all over the place i was hit by a home made bomb on my leg, and but was not hurt at all.

Sorry about that I think the government are to be blamed about all these strikes because they refused to do the right thing at the right time. Simple to review workers salary after years will need strikes upon strikes before there implemented. Government officials are just greedy bunch.

That is horrible. Where are you from and why did you strike? We are teachers and we never had idea about violent strike or we will not have. Violence is not solution.

in the Philippines, no this time i was not part of it, i hate strike but i have to go it was so late at night, but the only way i need to pass is this way where the rioters are it's about 12midnight and I'm starving, I was not hurt at all it's a miracle. PTL

I could remember the last time I went on a strike . it was when the company I was doing my IT on decided to careless about our safety of we the workers. We have to go on a one day strike which changed their attitude towards safety .
