An hacker named Chris Ihebuzo, a software engineer recently hacked into Access bank Nigerla data base to have access to 2000 customers Bank verification number (BVN), encrypted passwords and other personal data.

The hacker revealed that his motive was not to steal customers money but to show how unsecure the data base of access bank is and that he could debit all the 2000 accounts at his wish without the customers consents.
He has also printed out the details of the customers as an evidences in a trending video.
What's your opinion on this situation?

I am following the trend to know if he will be arrested or employed by Access bank cos there was a time similar thing happened to first Bank and the hacker was employed into first Bank but no update on this yet.

Maybe this hacker borrowed the idea from the First bank hacker. If this goes his way, then good for him, if not the he may face dire consequences.

This is a crazy world nothing is really safe. The bank should try and work on their security network. If the hacker can do that then bank should think of employing because he knows the bank security loopholes

I believe the best option is to employ him. He only tries to prove to Access Bank that their customers data base is not sefe. Arresting will not solve the problem or may Access Bank data base secured

I agree with your point because he didn't touch any customers money despite that he had access to them, though he should have contacted them privately to discuss their limitations because this may affect their customer base.

This news is enough to make their customers jittery even though no money was lost. They need to make assurances to allay the fears of the customers and do something about their security ASAP.
Employing the hacker is at the discretion of the bank's management.

If I am even their customer I won't keep my money in the bank for the main time because it shows they are careless except they are able defend themselves with evidence.

I think this should be a big lesson to all banks in nigeria, now they should find way to make security network engineer and the other aspects that can cause them trouble more vigilant

It is very possible under pay might be the reason why some of the software engineers are not motivated nor are they given previledge to update their knowledge.

Hopefully, it will open their eyes to the fact that banking system shouldn't depend mostly on the cashiers and front office workers but attention should be given to those who keep the place running in the background by ensuring security.

The moment every transaction goes online the need for up dated security measures and high payrate to those managing the network and systems of the sensitive aspects became very necessary.

There is a saying that goes does: "the person that make a pencil is also the same person that make an eraser. The news about hacking in access customer account doesn't surprise me because there must be an insider working together with the aforementioned hacker before he can have access to the customer account.

This may be possible or not because if he had negative motive he would have swap all customers money to share with the insider but he didn't take any amount.

I don't think so. His original intention according to the news was to show the bank the weaknesses in their security system and he didn't touch anyone's money.

Don't get me wrong, what am trying to say is that he was able to do that because of the help of an insider from the same bank.

You are right, I don't think there is anyway he could have access to a sensitive information like this without having anyone working there that is breaching protocols to help him with his mission. We should not forget this same bank laid off some of their workers sometimes back during the lockdown. It could be one of those workers.

well if his main goal was not to steal but just to show how weak the security is then that is good, the company might as well better hire that guy

There is no proof that an insider gave him any link and it was not stated anywhere neither has the bank make it public that there was a snitch in the bank.
I don't think there was añy snitch in the first place. He could have just found some loopholes and capitalized on that. Another thing is that this is isn't so common with banks in Nigeria, so Access might have been operating a relaxed security system.
