Vinny Lingham, who is the CEO of crypto wallet Civic, won a six-year bet made with his friend Brent Goldman. Brent is also the director of engineering for Uber's self-driving. The bet was settled in 2013 when Goldman said he would give a whole bitcoin and Lingham had to pay him $1000 in return after five years. Now, Goldman agreed to settle the bet and give him one bitcoin which is now worth $8700!

Well, with this scenario is isn't really a bar one, the good thing is that the bet wasn't compromised and they both kept to bargain whether the other loses or not At least their friendship is still intact.

That's a good for one for both of them. Lingham is reaping the reward of patience, $8700 is not a small amount of money to just get on a platter of gold.

thank you for sharing this funny news with us and of course now bitcoin worth more and more money this is why he gave him 8k$ I think

I'm surprise they still upholded that 6-year-term bet, I guess back then each of them have already been keeping their end of the bargain to give to the other after 6 years, doubt either of them has losses though the one who got the bitcoin is definitely got the big prize

while reading this, you actually don't know if you should feel happy to the dude that won or feel sad for the dude that lost or you should concentrated on that 6 years o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Nothing is as risky as betting it could make you rise as fast as possible and at the same time loss. The guy who won now is loaded with money .

Good story about friendship and commitment. He won't backdown from the bet and paid accordingly right on time. ...$8700? When was this happening again?

This proves the strength of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. No matter now bitcoin is just $9000 now , we can never be sure it won't touch $100000!

I think assuming he had no patience , he might have gotten the reward , at least he made some profit from the bet

Iearned more here that are still people especially friends that we can still trust. Keeping a deal for about 6 years isn't easy especially now that people are criminal minded

I think he is really fourtunate to be able to get such amount since bitcoin price has increased to a higher volume , well if the price dropped he would have also make loss

It was a 50/50 chance and he made the lucky choice or the right choice which have made him a millionaire today. He is also generous to have giving is friend 1bitcoin, it's a good thing
