I'm very concerned, to be frank guest blogging is one of my main link building strategy to gain high PR backlinks.
Since Matt Cutts posted this post many bloggers stopped accepting guest posts and my SEO strategy need improvement.

What you do to gain high PR dofollow backlinks and rank higher in SERPs? Should I start buying backlinks?

You should never buy high PR backlinks, this is against Google terms and once they find out you guest blogging for backlinks and this is your link building strategy you get penalized without further notice.

Is SEO dead?
Of course not, just stop guest blogging for backlinks and find a way to gain so-called editorial backlinks.

I find guest blogging to be ideal for SEO, it helps draw people to one's site.A lot of sites I visit is through a guest post on a site and a link pointing to the site helps me find the site easily.When one writes intelligently and with authority on another site and ask people to visit his or her site, readers are bound to do so, since one has displayed his or her self already to be an authority and of course getting readers to the site would be a lot easy that way.So guest blogging still aids SEO.

Guest blogging can be a very good thing,if you are doing the right way.If you can write good quality posts,and this will be published on higher ranking websites,and your sites url can appear beside your post,this means quality backlinks and higher ranking for your website too in search engines.

Guest blogging for the sake of SEO is not dead yet. However, Google has taken a stricter stand on the issue of guest blogging. You can publish a guest post on another website/blog and link one or two websites through anchor text, however, if you share too many links from the single page, it is considered as spamming. Google also checks whether the backlinks are coming from related sites or not. Google will penalize if you are generating backlinks to your recipe blog from a gaming website.

Guest blogging will still work as long the content is posted on a relevant/related website. The content itself must be unique of cos (pass copyscape) and the blog/site you are posting on, must not be red-flagged by Big G. Basically Quality Relevant Content on a Quality Relevant Website, if the readers love the content and starts sharing, giving you that sweet social signals, I bet Google will love it too.

It is definitely working. And it is not dead. However you may have to provide quality content. Because longer and quality content is what helps with traffic. And also the guest blog also allows you to use the link at the bottom or within your content post. So it's pretty much good enough on that. It's not dead yet if you are doing it right.

SEO Guest post is good if those reader comes to your web page which means those sites must not be garbage at least then google will love your content.

Rather than guest blogging for lots of sites that have lots of guest bloggers, you'd be better off writing a very high quality article for 1 or 2 large blogs that accept a lower number of guest posts and include simply 1 or 2 links.

Guest blogging to me is still better than buying backlinks. With guest blogging you will be offering users more value for their time through good content. Guestblogging isn't dead so go ahead with it.
