RBC, a local Russian outlet, reported Monday that Russians are developing an Artificial Intelligence system that can monitor (track and analyze) cryptocurrency transactions. The system will be used on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Omni, Dash and Monero networks.
The project is called "Transparent Blockchain" and is intended to partially remove the anonymity of transactions on the aforementioned networks.
The Russian government, the Bank of Russia and financial institutions will be able to use the system to monitor and analyze transactions made with cryptocurrencies. This aims to prevent cryptocurrencies from being used in illegal transactions such as money laundering, drug trafficking, tax evasion, cybercrime, hiring hitmen, terrorist financing and many others.

I doubt the Russian government will use it extensively to enforce the laws. I mean Russia has a great number public websites where criminals activity occured on daily basis and so far they don't take any action against those. A certain hacking forum where people can buy hacking tools came to mind.

Hey right, once I found some Russian photos where you could buy piracy and hacking software, I don't know how I got to those and forums, but I didn't give them credibility.
Any magnitude of manipulation of information can be expected from the Russian government.

I'm more happy about it helping to stop illegal transactions and criminal activities. This is help reduce the amount of people getting scammed and duped all the time.

I wish them success in the project, complete annonymity is not good for Crypto currencies because people are abusing it and will continue .

That is a great move. The very reason that crypto currency transactions are anonymous is what makes them easy to be used for criminal purposes. I guess this move will reduce such crimes.

Hopefully everything is as the report says, but both you and I know that one thing is what is said and another is what it does.
Hopefully it is used to reduce transactions associated with criminal actions to their maximum expression and not used to control the entire system, we would have to wait for the true results of this investigation.

This is not an invasion into the privacy of cryptocurrencies. The Russians are indeed life savers. If the proposed artificial intelligence come to action, the rate of crimes involving these currencies will be reduced drastically.

That's why I said "hopefully", because if that happens, trust in cryptocurrency transactions would increase exponentially and from my point of view governments would be obliged to adopt them.
