When it comes to hosting your website everyone seems to know about GoDaddy and HostGator. It is common knowledge that GoDaddy is one of the largest sites for domain name registrar. While on the other hand, HostGator is the leading website hosting provider. So is this like comparing apples and oranges? The only way to really find out is to compare their services. Before you can decide which one is best, you'll need to examine the hosting company's performance, the customer support, the uptime, and the quality of the service.

When deciding on the best web hosting service for you, also look at the response time, the speed test, the customer support, the benchmark, the user interface, and the different features and pricing. This is the only true way to evaluate a site and know which one has better options and services for you. Even if one is a bit more expensive, it is always worth the few dollars you spend.

GoDaddy.jpg

GoDaddy Services:

Performance: GoDaddy servers run on a Core i7 processor. This is a great technology, but it has its limitations.

Speed Test: When you compare the loading time of the service, it normally takes around 3.10 seconds to load an average website on GoDaddy. The size of the page tested was 405.9 KB.

Response Time: When you're looking for a good hosting company response time is important. You'll need to monitor this time for 20 to 30 days to get a good idea. When GoDaddy was measured against HostGator, it appears that GoDaddy falls short and doesn't have a great response time.

Benchmark: It is good to do a GtMetrix benchmark test. Testing the same website page, the response time in open the page took 1.6 seconds to load the page.

Pricing: Comparing the economy package, price, services, and disk space. GoDaddy offers a package for $4.99 a month that includes a 100GB limit on the disk space, and you can get 100 and 500 emails in this package.

HostGator Services:

Performance: HostGator has a data center in Dallas Texas. In the data center, the servers or equipment is connected to 10 different backbone providers. The company has always invested the money they earn to upgrade their equipment and services.

Speed Test: When you open and load a website page on HostGator it opens and displays quite a bit faster. I ran a speed test on a page that was 472.8 KB. This page was able to open in 1.52 second. The page was larger and the loading time was half of what GoDaddy's loading time was for a smaller page that I tested.

Response Time: Testing this site side by side with another site on GoDaddy, the response time over a 20-day period was far better than the site that was hosted on GoDaddy.

Benchmark: The benchmark test on the web page loaded in 0.8 seconds. This was twice as fast as the page loaded on GoDaddy.

Pricing: The economy or baby plan allows you to only host one domain on the servers. The rest of the plans allow you to host unlimited domains You do have unlimited emails with all their plans. This plan runs $3.45 a month.

So now you decide. As you can see for speed and service HostGator wins hands down. Even though GoDaddy might have better prices, they don't have much to offer you when it comes to loading time and page performance.

After reading these results, who would you choose?

I think you should go with Godaddy,I prefer a their hosting services than hostgator.itprices has different levels to suit one's pocket so you can make your choice and the prices are cheaper too,it easy to use and you are sure of security because Godaddy will locked down your domain name so as not to be bought by others.

But how about the speed? My friend told me that Godaddy is very slow to connect. He's been using Hostgator for a year now so I'm confused which one is much better.

I don't think it has slow speed, from reviews I haven't heard anyone complain about slow speed from.Godaddy, this is the giant of wen hosting services and I doubt they'll have speed issue.

I don't think it has slow speed, from reviews.
His workmate had a bad experience in Godaddy he said there were times their server was down that's why he chose Hostgator over Godaddy based on personal experiences. He hasn't experienced down time in Hostgator. Maybe I'll read more reviews between the two.

Alright you can go ahead to read reviews about them, would have sent you links but I'm working with my mobiles. Read. the forum, you'll get appropriate reviews to get your answer.

Hostgator is worst. Avoid them. Godaddy, dreamhost are lot better. And another host is hawkhost. Hawkhost is good host as well. You can see that godaddy one that can be said in that context as well. I guess you can see that dreamhost in one way can be good as well.

Now I'm confused. Ok, I'll read more reviews about dreamhost and hawkhost. But how about the prices, are they affordable?

I have tried hostgator and namecheap already. hostgator is much expensive that's why I transferred to namecheap.

The activation of my hosting was slow, didn't like the host panel, support was also slow and I didn't even received a full refund
Ouch, that's bad news. Maybe they don't have a refund policy that's why they didn't give your money back. Is there any hosting company that offers money back guarantee?

Hawkhost is pretty much reliable with higher uptime. You will in fact find the service better than hostgator and bluehost. Do note that EIG company which owns bluehost, hostgator, siteground, smallorange. All of those hosts are under one server stack. So they are bad at performance.

Personally in my opinion namecheap is the best compared to both of these in both features, price and sustainability. I don't know why people go for these high priced websites because of extensive ads but please give namecheap a try. You guys won't regret it.

On HostGator , you pay per 2 years , just 3,84$ which i think is very good , in other side , on GoDaddy the price for a "domain.com" is just £0.99 per month .

FINAL THOUGHS

As you can see at the final , the HostGator will offer the lowest price , with the sam options as is competitors (GoDaddy and Squarespace)

After you choose HostGator you will se on the Homepage ( navigation bar) , these :

So if you choose HostGator for your host plan , i recommend first to opt. for Web Hosting (is the best , because if you are a begginer it's just fits your needs , you don't need much more) .

Only case difference in case of godaddy would be you don't get cpanel. Instead you get custom dashboard which is harder. In case of hostgator you can get the cpanel which is available in 99% of the shared web hosting. So that's the only plus side of the hostgator as it is lot better for the hosting company.

I think that Hostgator Servers have better more speed and more quality

Considering that you're not talking about Hostgator shared hosting, (which is notorious for being slow and having bad support) and you're talking about a VPS, Hostgator isn't that bad. Godaddy is the same, but I would still recommend Hostgator but be sure to check out videos that directly compare them. Anyway, yeah, I would go with Hostgator.
