I've tried couple free web hosting for forums and I cannot recommend any because of bad experience I had. My advice is to talk with your schoolmates and tell them you need $12 for web hosting with free domain for your school project and if possible to give you $1 each. You need 12! I think you just solved the problem!

Here are a few: prophpBB, icyboards or freeforums. They are all good for a school project. Free hosting isn't bad but to cover the cost they will put a few ads on your forum.

x10 hosting and infinity hosting can host the forums too. they have the script installer. and it can install most of the forums. and that can be helpful for you to post some level of the content. I have tried this method and it seems to be working for me. i guess in that context it'd be really beneficial.

While this is quite an old thread people are always looking for free forums. Proboards are good - highly recommended.

You can install Wordpress, older version, on RatedXhost free hosting. After that try find some free forum plugin and test it out. You can put your ads to.

I read in the website of 000webhost.com that, they are $0.00 webhost and are providing first class free web hosting services with no advertising too. This is something I did not get, how a host will earn if everything is free and no ad revenue?

They add some of ads. Also it's way for promoting their paid hosting. If it's free hosting okay, than I would probably buy some paid package.

Thanks, Lots of mixed reviews about 000webhost.com. I'd recommend using the free option for something like Wordpress.org, only. And I would back up as often as possible.

I think you would probably be better investing in paid for hosting. $20 -$30 every year +$10 domain is a lot of money for a hobby but not if your aim is to make money.
