Being a manager in business, there are certain times when you have to take tough decisions. Many types of employees work in a business or in a company, they have different potential and working experience. Some may have excelled in their trade, in other hand there are some employee who are very slow to learn.

In such a case when an employee is not able to give his full potential that is expected from him, will you fire him from the job? Because as a manager you have to think for the larger good. There are practical examples where manager fire their employees for their incompetence. Will you also do the same in that situation?

My answer is YES, I can fire a incompetent employee who is not realdy to adjust or make effort, if I'm in position of fire him/her. No manager will like to be working with incompetent employee that is not carry his/her duty as well.

You are more work oriented.that is good for the business when you are strict with your employee. Generally it is good to give them one chance so that they can correct their behaviour and attitude.

I had a sad experience of firing out a subordinate. He was caught stealing used computer parts from the warehouse that was assigned to him. To protect his career I urged him to resign instead of being officially terminated.

For me I don't believe in firing outrightly there should be room for warning, suspension and maybe heart to heart talk. It is when there's no change that firing can come in

I think it depends on a number of different factors. Humans have different weaknesses and short comings and if my employee isn't meeting up to my standards, I think I'll give him or her more room to adapt.

This is what I preach to be more humane when we are dealing with the next person. Instead of sacking outrightly leave room for the person to adapt and enjoy the working environment first

Yes, I think I have the guts to fire an incompetent employee. After following all the rules including giving chances for change, I will fire the person. I am sure I can do it in a firm yet friendly way.

Yup, that is a very generous of you. Mostly the boss will straight away fire the person from the job. I too think that they deserve at least one more chance.

I can actually fire someone especially if the person is becoming a liability to my business. Though I will give the person time to change

Yes i will do it if their actions undermines the growth and development of the business, because if the person is not remove from the business their actions affects other employees. The main objective of every business is to make profit and expansion this is only achievable through proper management and good team work.

Yes. It's a business and nothing personal. I should do what is right for the business and not make decisions based on emotions or pity

It's awful the first couple of times. It's extremely uncomfortable, and you don't want to do it, but you know it's the correct thing to do.

However, once you've done it a few times, like I have, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

There is no point in keeping employee who do not add any values to the business. When you keep such employee, he will continue to slow down the progress of the business. To save the business, the best is to fire such employee.

If an employee isn't working according to the planned frame of the company's projects, firing such staff is the best decision. It's basically for the development of the company.

I have done such were I get to fire someone but I come to realize myself and the feeling the person might be going through. I pray I never be such condition of do such again. We don't know were we might meet again and be of help to each other.

Yeah, right. Especially when you have given them a chance to change and they never do so. It becomes your duty to fire them. And as a manager, this should be one of the areas that you should learn to be comfortable with.

If you did it with a good reason then you don't need to be burdened about it.. give them a few chances to change or fix what goes wrong if it's remain the same do it

Firing an incompetent worker or staff sometimes is the best thing to do especially when the business is derailing. There must be a good reason to do that to avoid ruining your name.
