Ex-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn's son paid $500000 in crypto to an anonymous person to help his father escape Japan and come to Lebanon. Carlos was arrested in Japan back in 2018 for financial crimes. In December 2019, Carlos escaped Japan to Lebanon with the help of an army veteran named Michael Taylor who was paid the huge amount of ransom money in cryptocurrency.

Well , bribery is one common thing in the world . I guess the army veteran saw that what he was offered is what he won't be able to earn in the army , and so he gave in to it. .now he has a bad reputation for himself .

I am more interested in how the army veteran was tracked as the person who recieved the coin despite the annoymous nature of Crypto currencies.

Yeah right, this is one way criminals get their freedom or their way, they will offer you money you can't resist. Sometimes money one haven't seen in their lifetime. This is why criminals steal so much.

Sure that's why it hard to curb criminality because even in the body or organisation against it there are criminals too so it would be very difficult

well i read about this, he was caught commitong a lot of crimes and traveled to a lot of countries, what's surprising is that crypto is still being used in illegal stuff even now

They transfered the money through Coinbase. Does Coinbase requires people to do KYC before trading in large amount? If so, then we know how he got tracked.

Yea coinbase allows for kyc data to be used for large amount , but we don't know the wallet he used to receive the crypto it might not be coinbase

Very likely the KYC was what they used to traced him he was not smart enough to recieve the coins in smaller units and not to have done KYC verification.

You are right, that's why there is a saying that sometimes you use thief to catch a thief. Even the organization to curb this can be as dubious as the criminals.

Still, that guy is still free in Lebanon though. Hope he gets arrested soon. He had tarnished Nissan reputation far enough he deserve to rot in jail.

I don't think it will tarnish or have anything to do with Nissan since its the ex and former Nissan manager , only the persons image will be tarnished

Back when he got arrested in Japan in 2018 he was still the chairman of Nissan, and he had squandered millions from Nissan's balance for his personal entertainment.

I never knew he did that wow , well that means it might tarnish the image of the company but I don't know the joy they find in corruption when they know they will be caught

This is something quite wrong in the society. It is sad that he works boldily in the society and he feels that he is above the Lord. He should be used to set example in my opinion

There are many more such corruptions, crimes, etc in the future now with increase and popularity in cryptocurrency.

It is necessary that every country and all crypto exchanges take enough precaution and security to avoid such crimes in the future.

I don't know why it's so common of them using crypto now like if there isn't other types of payment system to use , it's really bad and creating more bad image on crypto
