Am glad reading that the coins has been traced to the destination address , at least there is hope of catching the victims very soon . Block chain is getting better daily

Yes the Binance CEO has updated that he will do everything possible to ensure that the funds that was traced to Binance be recovered and sent back appropriately.

$5.4 is not much but still the exchanger site can improve the security , just like how Binance and the other reputed exchangers do.

There was a typo graphical error while I was typing the update to have included the full description, it is $5.4 million not billion as you thought.
I thought as much because I read the same news somewhere else and the data was in million and not $5.4 which is a small amount of money . Any update on this issue ?

That was a rather a sad News and there should be prompto measures that will help recover.Hop this prevalence of hacking exchange sites be put to dust. Can an individual trace to how the transaction were carried out.

I have not been able to get any update from the Twitter handle of the binance Changpeng Zhao nor any Crypto tracker site if the coins has been fully traced in those Exchange platform

were they on blockchain?

Most likely it's those hot wallets that got hacked and then the funds transferred to another wallets. It's hard to tamper with blockchain.

I think checking only three platform doesn't give them much guarantee of getting the money back, they should check others or it might be sent to a smaller exchange site
