What Is Etsy.com?

Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on selling items under these categories, namely the following: hand-made, vintage items, craft supplies, jewelry, bags, clothing, home decor, furniture, toys, art, craft supplies, and tools. Here's a shortlist categories of the said website, and they are the following: Jewelry and accessories, Clothing and shoes, Home and Living, Wedding and Party, Toys and Entertainment, Art and Collectibles, Craft Supplies and Tools, and Vintage.

Company Behind

Etsy Inc. is the company name behind this marketplace and is physically located at Dumbo, Brooklyn, U.S.A. and is founded by entrepreneur Rob Kalin and partners Chris Maguire and Haim Schoppik in 2005.

Technical Specifications

They got their domain name registered in February of 2004 from MarkMonitor, Inc. using nsone.net's DNS (Domain Name Services) Control panel and hosting legacy software via Amazon, Inc.

Making Money

You can make money by becoming a Seller; you need first to create a name for your shop, stock up with inventories that you really want to sell, your payment method, and your shop is life mostly in the United States of America if you can deliver them. You can also earn money easily by joining their affiliate program hosted by Awin and get approved. Their affiliate program will store within 30 days the cookie on one computer, where they opened up your affiliate link with Etsy. Meaning if they wanted to buy from your affiliate link, they have a deadline of 30 days to do it for you to get the commission. I still have the pending application of joining their program in Awin, so I can't show you my affiliate link but my empty shop just in case.

PROS and CONS:

PROS:

- It's free to start and later upgrade yourself as sales are coming in.

CONS:

- Nothing yet at the time of this review

By the way, Etsy is not free to start, you need to pay 20 cents for a 4 month listing each. On top of that, Etsy also takes a 5% fees from each sales and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on every purchase.

I would say the only pro of Etsy is that it is well known for handmade items and people are more likely to buy from there.

Cons:
- Etsy now impose an extra fee of 15% if users make less than $10,000 in a year and 12% fee if users make more than $10,000 during a 12-month period
if you advertise using their internal ad network.

- Etsy is very strict, one mistake and your entire account and shop is gone. They won't reinstate it or tell you what mistake you make either.

There are more minor cons to this site but these two are the big ones.

Etsy is a good e commerce shop choice if you are a creative person and you create very special things
all the creators there are mostly artists selling their works

Esty is an easy to use site. I like the interface because it is easy to navigate and it has more honest sellers than other e-commerce I have used. It comes highly recommended

It is very good you have a mentorship guide to make it esty, I initially set up my shop to sell digital products like images and printed quotes but after 5 months I didn't make any sales as at then all was free not now they fees are added.

40 cents are fees I guess ? but it's normal, because there is so much fake sellers and this thing will reduce the spamming of some people, I'm planning to sell T shirts there

From my research...The way Etsy makes money as a corporation is by charging the seller fees when they list and sell products. The site charges $0.20 to list an item, and the listing stays active for four months. If your product sells, Etsycharges 3.5% of the selling price as a commission.
Your research is accurate, this is the way similar sites like Shopify, Bonanza, storency, Aftcra etc also make their money only that their charges differ.

Good review. I have not actually used Etsy services before but people say good things about the US e-commerce company. I will personally try them one of those days.

I want to sell art and craft related things on Etsy. I make jewelry molds and this product is demanding . So I want to promote my this work through Etsy , where alot of people love Handmade things . . Anyone here who has experience of selling on Etsy, can guide me about this matter?
I want to know what rules we have to follow to sell on that platform?

Love, love, LOVE Etsy but I find it's too expensive. I love to go on the platform and look at all the pretty handmade jewellery and hair products but usually walk away without ever buying anything because it's too far outside my budget, sadly. Maybe one day.
