Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has taken aim against New York-based Bitcoin mining firm Greenidge Generation

Senator has written a letter to Jeff Kirt, CEO of Greenidge, raising concerns about the company's impact on
hthe environment.

She squd that the facilities are using 112 Terra watt of power each year and are causing environmental concerns as well as shortage of power supply if not now for the future

She said that such facilities should be consideredas premium and should have premium tariffs from other users of the nation

I think there are more industrial companies out there that have more negative impact to the environment compared to mining companies, I'm quite really dumbfounded always as to why they always target the mining side of things and there are like big industrial companies out there even oil companies which produces lot more pollutions

The government always wanting to close down anything that has to do with crypto mining and forgetting about the fact that other industries also add to the degradation of the environment. maybe they need to be more proactive by providing natural energy to the miners after all they also benefits from the mining too via their collection of taxes.

This is one of the concerns that many people have when it comes to cryptocurrency because if you are looking to mine cryptocurrency it does take a lot of energy and as a result you are more than likely going to rely on non-renewable energy sources which is damaging the environment. I think that this was one of the concerns that Elon Musk also raised when it comes to tesla actually accepting Bitcoin

This is why the government should provide renewal energy for the miners so that the environment can be spared. The government will definitely generate revenue miners so they should also provide the needed energy which is more friendly to the environment. it will help the miners do better.

It is not that the government cannot provide it to the people it is rather that they do not have the necessary to biological advancements in order to do so because renewable energy is still relatively in its early stages considering how efficient it is right now and how it can be used to distribute energy to the rest of the communities.

The Miners and big guys in cryptocurrency market should sponsor projects and research that will enhance generation of power through renewable energy sources because the same or similar concern was what Elon Musk raised has it stopped accepting the use of Bitcoin as payment in his Tesla company.

This is something of great concern as the environment is of utmost concern in anything we are trying to do since we have no other place to live in outside our very own planet Earth.
If the mining activities consume these high amount of energy, then they should be regulated and made to operate at minimal rates only.

I do agree with you. Someone like elon musk that has raised the issue shoudl actively go out in order to try and achieve this and research ways that is can be implemented as well because if they do not do so then the funds to do this research will not be enough and it will take a much longer time.

According to a report I read somewhere else, more than half of the world's crypto mining operations are now powered with renewable energy. I hope the company also use renewable energy in their mining quest. Anyway, as others have stated, politicians are targeting crypto since it's an easy target, while turning to a blind eye when it comes to pollutions caused by mega corporates.

It is very possible that a lot of cryptocurrency mining projects are powered with renewable energy because after the crackdown and the concerns raised by a Elon Musk a lot of the B-world conferences that were in Miami and other places were mostly centred on the use of renewable energy, research and development as regards renewable energy in mining cryptocurrencies.

very well said. there are many more companies producing a lot more pollution than crypto mining companies. its just that mining companies almost always are shown in a bad way. do they consume a lot of electricity ?¿ yes they do but they pay for what they consume. there are bigger industries that consume a lot more & are wrecking the environment worse than mining farms.

Yeah miners consume alot of electricity but these big factories just consumes less or same or more or near, and if its pollution lots of factories out there produces more carbon emmission than miners which is a no brainer that it destructs the environment much more, just because they can't sue these big factories or companies they'll go sue the small miners?

i think elizabeth warren should 1st get better informed or shut up. she is just spouting her mouth off to get media or tele attention time. what about all these major companies that are spewing tons of garbage in the air every yr ?¿ industrial waste that goes in our rivers, water bodies, drinking water, buried into the ground, etc. she is just another ignorant politician, that doesnt know anything about cryptos or their potential. or she is now the mouth piece of a group of people who want to bad mouth cryptos & mining. for whatever reason or for their own personal gain.

there are worse industries than crypto mining farms.

This is a very interesting news article and I have never seen anything of this nature however if this is the case then it is going to help cryptocurrency drastically when it comes to people supporting it and also the implementation and adoption of crypto currency into the financial infrastructure of the various countries that previously raised concerns about the environment.
