Hi,

I know that we often create eBooks as "opt-in bribes" for our mailing lists, or as bonuses to thank customers for making a purchase, but has anyone here been successful in selling their eBooks as stand-alone products? If so, I'd like to hear more about how you did it!

Yes my friend has actually put four of her books on Amazon for sales. Two of those book did well. She will be publishing another book again next month. I have tried to sell some of my used books on eBay and Facebook.

We have OLX in India to sell old things like books, computer and other household items

I also would be interested in knowing how to sell ebooks. To make eBook is not my problem but to sell is my obstacle.
That was why I decided to get involved in freelancing so that my writing skill won't be put into use.

We are rather talking about ebook sales here. Have you been successful at selling ebooks online or do you know someone who has been successful? I have some journal articles which I would like to sell too. I have not found the right website.

You can sell them easily on Facebook. Post a picture of those journals and add a brief impressive description about it. Don't disclose the price and post a note there, "if anyone interested in buying message me and you will be able to sell those easily".

To sell ebook or digital products in this way, then how you receive the money if you got sale, and how to avoid being scammed ?

I think that it can hard to sell e-books when so many people just offer them for free... I think you're honestly better off just using e-books to get emails and build an emailing list and then possibly go down the affiliate road.

Selling e-books by itself can be a very tough market.

Yes, I think Olx and quickr works in India only

i think Amazon KDP is still the best place to sell ebooks.
Because the audience there is the largest so no need to do anything promotion, also it takes care of your tax already so you don't need to further take any action about tax.

I have written only on e-book so far on my experience selling comic books on eBay and reaching the $1200 mark in one month.
I offer the e-book as a free download on my website but have also sold it many times (royalty income) in the past and currently have some adverts on local and international eCommerce platforms.

Not written anyting on fiction as of yet. I heard it does pay more than non ficiton. guess we have to check out with some promotion if possible. Considering there are not many good reviews. I'd say it means the book may end up not sellng much. so the reviews on the book counts for the right amount of exposure. for each to their own in that case. It means one has to see which genre sells.

I recently published my first Ebook with Amazon kindle and it doing well but not as expected.I'm almost completing the second one and I intend to advertise and sell it myself.

From reasarch online,it still boils down to advertising where you have millions of people which is the social media.It could be Facebook,twitter,instagram,youtube etc.A review about the book posted along side the book wouldn't be a bad idea.

If you have the money,you could engage in paid ads on blogs and forums even on social media as well.So basically one has to go on advertising spree letting people know about the book and where to have a copy .

Have you tried joining the forums where the reviews can be swapped. These days many people do such type of promotion for the review swap. And it works out for them. I have also learned that some of the ebooks being sold in smashwords would be more than one platform. So you may want to try that option for promotion as well.

The best method that has worked for me in selling ebooks is to build a list offering free ebooks in a targeted niche. After amassing a large number of subscribers in a particular niche, I then sell my eBook to them. It works well because I target a particular niche and gain their trust before trying to sell to them.

I intend to write ebooks for sale though not yet and I think DIY ebooks will really self as people are always looking for ways to do things their selves. This your method looks viable using just a niche is preferable to get to target audience.

Do-it-yourself ebooks sell very well in the market and connecting to the right people will definitely give you a huge profit. You can go to Amazon and write such books, they will do the publishing it for you, it's very profitable.

I think it is better to promote your eBooks on gumroad, the platform looks more legitimate than using a new website because of trust. Using social media is also very good.
