Hello Guys,

I want to maybe organise some league of legends tournaments and i know im gonna have to start with free events but what i want to know is if it's profitable in the long run ? and if so how can i earn some returns from the events other than entry fees

if you know something then please share your thoughts on this below,

Excuse me. I visited the site of "League of Legends", but I have to be honest, from what I read, it does not seem a game, where you are economically remunerated, to play and organize tournaments.

I have no Idea how LoL works.
I have organized Yu-Gi-Oh real events when I was Younger.

I've spent: 45 euro for the prices 3-2-1 Place.
I've profited: 80 euro

So yes, gaming tournaments IF you know how to do them are usually profitable.
But I can not speak for games of wich I do not know how they work. That's why I used what I know for the example.

If you talk about Euro, I suppose you are a European citizen. True?

But listen: I'm not fond of videogames, I consider myself a person (excuse the term) "old" for this type of entertainment.
But, I would like to be honest, I never heard about, earning by playing...
If you know anything, however, it is not said that I am completely disinterested.
Thank you
Greetings

Hi Thanks for sharing your ideas, let me explain how exactly you can earn from hosting tournaments, "quick note though im gonna talk about how an individual can earn from this not big organisations or companies they already have LCS and the likes going on anyways"

So you can earn money by hosting these tournaments through a bunch of methods, right now i think the most secure way is to get some profit through entry fees, each player will need to pay to be able to play, and before you say it's gambling it's not, and whith that money you can cover the prizes and what's left is your profit after investing the money,

Some other methods are also viable but you ought to have a big audience and attendance for these, like sponsorships : a company can sponsor you by either providing equipement as prizes or equipement for players to play

This is just a quick look into what you can make by playing games, and you can also look at this from the players perspective,

If you ever want to research more into this, i suggest starting by understanding what E-sports is, I'll Leave some videos for you so you can take a look :

Hi. I think for a LOL tournament you gonna have to ask a permission to RIOT Games and follow there rules.
The good side of that is: they gonna provide the wining prizes for your event, advertising and maybe more stuff like help to set up this correctly. You can add other prize too from your side to increase interest of player. I think you can win a lot of money honestly... (Considering your current location, I don't know if there is a lot of tournament, so maybe I'm wrong) I have think about it myself, but like always it's a lot of work; you gonna have to create an association first, get some assurances because nobody sane enough gonna provide a spot for your event without.

A thing you should never lose your focus in is ethernet/wifi connection. You cannot play at lol without, if you have 500 player for one internet box, it's not gonna work^^. So you need professional material, and maybe professional people if it's your first time. One another thing I have hear is: people having trouble because RIOT consider it's suspicious to have hundred of people connecting for play from one spot, I think the server consider this as a spam bot attack or something like that, so have contact with riot gonna be mandatory. But if you plan to do a tournament online it's not gonna be a problem.

@alberello75
Actually 'a lot' of people live by playing video games: https://www.esportsearnings.com/games
And I think this buisness gonna increase every year. But for take profit of it as a player, two option: have a 'gift' for (and all the logistics needed), and start playing before 16 year. After (around) 22 (or 25) you gonna be more exhausted by playing video game 16 to 8 hour a day for training, so you need to have a high level before. Maybe a lot of people can train well after this age... The games in this list don't let place at much creativity (in my opinion) it's really some repetitive games, so better training win I think.

Yes. That's also why I gave a more "physical" example with trading card games.
That is very easy you buy prizes: 1st Place a 30 euro Tin of trading cards, 3 and 2 place just a few booster packs.
Tournament can be hold of a MIN: 4 to a Max at 16 players due to SPACE limitations even though there is not an actual Maximum ammount of players.

I make an entry fee of 5 euros.
That's basically how I did it.

So there is a market, but I can not talk about more virtual events cause I'm not very knowledgeable about them.

So gonna Read OP post now to learn :D

Thank you for posting these video-tutorials.;)
I will try, step by step to understand, how it works!
However, I predict that it will not be easy for me.
But please, forgive me a question. is it possible to leave referral-link on this site? I still have to understand it.

Ok. Initially, it would not be a problem for me to buy some cards.
However, it is also about knowing some of the game strategies, otherwise, I would end up losing.

Ok. Thank you for your information.
I kindly wanted to ask you this question, as I know that, in certain sites it is strictly FORBIDDEN, posting their referral-links.

Yeah you can earn money from gaming tournament
I have friends who do that in every Gaming or Comic event and they finish with a big earning a the end
but first you need to have a budget to start and to show that your event worth spend 15$ or more to participate
You can show that by announcing The Prizes
You can do this kind of events online too it's a good way to start with a small budget
Let's say for example :
First place win 500$
Second place win 300$
Third place win 150$

and the price to participate in at least 15$ and 100 players join the tournament 100x15= 1500$ that's mean 650$ earnings
Because 15$ is nothing in front of 500$ prize
but you need also to know how to share your event in socials medias

Excuse me if I dare. But, since it asks you for money, just to participate to the tournaments and the prizes are definitely high, I have the impression that it is scam. That said, I could also be wrong ...
Thanks and greetings Alessandro

I Understand what you mean, but it's not because i know some websites that are running for years now doing prized tournaments plus it's also not scam because the prize is either through collecting entry fees ( some tournaments even state that the more players join the bigger the prize pool would be ) or through sponsors when it comes to websites/organizations with big followers

Also on a different side note in my opinion to know if something is a scam i think you should consider looking into wether the website ask for in example 5$ sign up and promises 300$ profit without actually explaining how they make that much money to pay you! alone! which is different from tournaments since most of the time you will be sharing the prize with team members like for league of legends i know this tournament which pays approx 150$ per team so you end up with 30$ cuz you play with 4 other mates.

And you shouldn't forget that those tournaments are Highly competitive so to win you gotta be a God in that game or have some skilled friends

I Hope You Understood A Bit Of What I Was Trying To Say, Although It's My Take On Tournaments You Can Agree Or Disagree With Me :)

Thanks For Reading My Looong Boring Comment ;)

Your comment will have been long but not boring at all.
I had to understand and a good explanation like yours was right.
Forgive me if I may have misjudged your paying videogames, which you have quoted.
But excuse me: is League of legends, maybe a soccer game?

I get it. I see it's a videogame about the style (once called) "Dungeouns and dragons" (if I remember correctly).
And you, remember that with me, every comment is always welcome.

video game tournament is so very profitable nowadays, League of Legends, Dota, or other MOBA games once they do tournament it turned a big profit to them, especially each game contains tons of users or players!

You are right. This leads to difficulties in winning against truly competitive opponents!
This information is very useful for me.
Thanks and greetings, Alessandro

It's not easy to get tons of players
the big profit is for big official events only with sponsors which can pay other things
but for a little event, you need to make it clear and believable to join it
and to make the funny experience about it more important than the profit
this is how you learn how to handle an event

@Mbwolf some officials doing computer shop tournaments, they ask the player to invest at least a dollar to pay, and the winning team will have at least 80% of the total income they made
