I intend to create a blog where I'll be posting a few pictures every day. As yet I don't have a marketing strategy - seeing as I'm trying to figure out if the venture would be worthwhile in the long run. Already looking around the web I've seen some discouraging blog posts which make it seem that all photo blogs are deemed to fail.

Anyone can write a blog post though so I'll not be discouraged by the aforementioned blog posts.

Can I make some money from a photo blog if I don't intend to sell any of the photos I post on the blog? Draw the traffic in, have the blog visitors take a look at some ads and earn a little money?

Thoughts?

It is tough to make money Photo blogs as the content is king in these days. Photo blog would be easy, but you cannot use Adsense a it is against terms of services.
Check some established photo blogs with similar niche and test them how they are monetized, Alexa, Search rankings, etc.
Don't waste time and money on such blogs as they won't alive any more.

Are you a professional photographer? You could earn money selling your photos on sites like Fotolia.

I think that to make money with a photography blog you would need to provide your audience with your own brand. So think out of the box, you can put quotes, memes or anything with your photos.

If you want to focus on just the photos themselves, then you would have to take pictures that capture emotions. You would have to build an audience from scratch knowing that other bloggers have their own audience by now.

But as long as you have the passion for it, I don't see why you cannot monetise a blog that truly shows what you're capable of doing. Good luck!

It is possible to make money by having a blog with photos. But you have to make good photos that are interesting to people. And that money is not fast, you can not start earning in no time. It takes much efforts.

photo blog is against terms of adsense. BUt there are other advertising companies that can give you ads but they're low paying. I suggest do some writing and make a blog of topic about which you have knowledge and you can write some articles about it.

I have tried snapwire and the other apps where you can do the photo blogging. But it does not seem to be working as well. So it all matters when you are trying to make the images work. On that point you can see that making money off image selling takes time. You can't do that easily though. I dont know if it's possible to make money unless you have stock photos to be uploaded or so from what I know.

You can make a wallpaper/ photo blog , host your photography in Flii.by or similar site and post a wallpaper or thumbnail so that you visitors can download it.
It can be fun way to start, because all these photo websites actually pay for a unique view and not a download.

You can make money with any kind of blog these days but the most important thing is your traffic and ways of monetizing.

You need to post nice and original photos to attract traffic, then you can incorporate a payment processor on the site which people can pay to download or buy outrightly to own.

You can also incorporate affiliate markeking program that suit the site,write some review on photography equipment or gears and input your affiliate link,so they can click and buy from your link.

You can also import these gadgets,equipment and gears and sell on the blog.

You can absolutely make money from a photo blog just think outside the box.

I think people here are not being realistic. And it's kind of sad to see that people don't see the amount of bandwidth being burned. And that's something you have to understand for the photo blog is something requires to have hosting plan with enough bandwidth.

If you have the hosting plan with unlimited bandwidth and have enough disk space. Then sure you cna go ahead with the hosting. And get yourself hosted. I am sure that people who want to do something like what unsplash and the pixabay are makign the money as well.

I agree. Your photo blog should have a good niche. Its hard to create a blog.
I tried but i failed. Im having a hard time maintaining it because of my regular job

Yes its possible if someone loves your photo blog they will buy your content and post it in their blogs with your name some of my photos are taken carelessly without acknowledging me thats the sad part of being a graphic artist :3

You can give it a try.Who knows?Maybe you will have success with your photo blog.But you don't know that till you create one.

That would go against adsense, but a photo with worth a million words. This would be great if adsense would allow it. I think that many people would abuse it also.

Yes,you are right.Who wants to use Google Adsense on his blog,has to pay attention to so many details.Just reading the faq of Google Adsense you can realize it.But even if you are trying to respect all the rules of Ga,you can never be sure,that you are doing everything correctly and that you can keep your GA account for a long time.

There are many details to take in consideration, but the Google Adsense has a rule book and all those rules are pretty much easy to follow.
Their main issue is preventing the fraud, all the rest goes under the technical issues that they inform you about.
In case that the technical issues are not solved within the time window they give you to figure it out, they don't add teh possible earnings to your account. But, that is pretty much it.

Adsense don't allow only photos. You can try popads or Adsense alternatives. For SEO purpose adding some description about photos is good.

Yes,you are right about it.You need some articles,about 10-20 on your website or blog to be accepted by Google Adsense.That is what I read about the conditions to be accepted by GA.If not,you can use other advertising networks,that accepts your site with only photos on it.
