I am particularly concerned about recommendations made on the Internet with regard to health issues.
There are millions of links one has access to. There are some that could be researched and could be trusted.
But how does not know which those trusted sites are?
I for example tend to trust the Mayo Clinic
What about you?

I don't know what site to be trusted, though I have to say I trust everything Wiki is writing as there I can double check some subjects on my text book, if it is say something the same. The problem is that I only rely on internet when it comes to researching a specific topic. I am hoping that it is telling the truth as it is a one stop shop to learn everything.

@Grecy095 Not everything that we read on the Net is genuine. I have experienced it specially on subjects I am good in. But what happens when we are looking for something where we have no knowledge? Even reviews are bribed sometimes. May be if Google starts charging then there could be stuff that one could have trust in

That is the problem @iamawriter, if there is something we are interested to know and we have zero knowledge about it, how do we know if that site is giving us the facts. It is hard to tell to be honest but still we rely on that first hand information we could get.

I do cross check and I think we all should. Because wikipedia is full of propaganda machines. And a lot of those things are going on with the content which is manipulated. So it's better to avoid using some of such stuff there as well. I personally avoid such content.

I agree with you. We should cross check especially on those health issue and topics as it is affecting our body and life!

Internet has lots of facts, and also has fallacies as well. There are lots of helpful tips you can learn from the internet, and there are lots of falsehoods as well. Do not believe everything in the internet. You have to search for second opinion, and don't rely on a single "fact".

I am always super careful about getting medical advice off the internet. Sure, I can research to know more about a health condition, but when it comes to actual steps to take, I prefer getting this information from a qualified medical personnel who has access to my medical history and what-not. Especially if you have children with allergies. There are a million and one advice on the internet on how to diagnose and treat allergies. I just read to know. I don't necessarily follow the treatment offered.

Its always best to cross check but naa i don't rely much on it and if its major i would like to consult a doctor first, rather then wasting time on internet. Though we can cure small issues with the help of internet but i doubt if we can operate a person or even surgery with the help of Internet :Roflmao::Roflmao:
