Wonder if people buy .UK and .US names.
Once I read in a forum .US is not used by many people hence no good value. And not worth selling .US names.

I would never buy such domains. I would only buy .com, .net and the recognised extensions. The domain extension that you purchase will either make or online community look professional, or unprofessional however it also do with the website content on how professional your site looks.

I think people do buy lot of different type of extensions. It all depends on what you want to do with them. So I think you should be seriously considering about the domains which match your work. If you can make serious money off it then surely use them the way you want. But if you have just minor stuff to do wtih niche and so then buy top level domains. otherwise regional domains are left to the local business the better.

I bought once on a time dot us and sold it for $20 or $30 since it is undeveloped domain. It is hard to find buyers for dot us domains, but you can sell co.uk domains for more price.
I prefer only com domains that is worth than these extensions.

.us or .UK domain extension is beneficial if one is focusing on targeting those audiences.it will helpful to the user because those countries would want to identify with those blogs or sites and one is sure of getting organic traffic from those location.

I have definitely have noticed the UK and US domains lately. And it seems like a good way to expose specific regions business. and that means it can be really hard in many ways for the business to work with some of the domains. I prefer to have the country specific domains in that case though.
