People around the world are in a state of utter panic as Coronavirus infections are on the rise. The WHO declared Coronavirus as a global pandemic and encouraged people to stay at homes and take precautions. Now in the current turn of events, there are bad people who would try to take advantage of this matter and fool the public into a trap. Many people have reported getting e-mails from random strangers asking them for bitcoin donation to help build a hospital for coronavirus victims. Some of them also ask for bitcoin donations to WHO. Now is the time to be careful and avoid scams such as these...

Yeah I came to read this post just before reading a Facebook post where people are asking for donations , I think they are scammers..And someone also emailed me by blackmailing me to send him $1000 bitcoins. I didn't respond to that scammer.

well you know what others say " take advantage of every situation" sadly many people attempt to scam others just by adding some spice of "emotional spices" in their story and making it harder for actual non-profit donation groups to get donations from people who are victims of these scamming schemes

Desperation cannot be an excuse for scamming other people. The people you are talking of are just plain thieves by nature, that's all.

yeah that's right I received some of those emails and also HYIP scamming sites that go for people who doesn"t really have money and tell them they gonna double what they have to face the pandemic

Not just in crypto world, in digital world as a whole. More people are easily caught in a net by people who are fishing for easy money. Facebook should really step up their security also, it is fast becoming the home of criminals. And innocent people just click and click without thinking

You are right, I don't think the scam can be completely eliminated but it can be reduced even the legs currencies people use it for dirty deals but if the security features of blockchain technology and wallets are improve It will limit it.

It's useless even if blockchain and wallet security's safety system were to be improved. First of all the weakest link is human itself, and you gotta remember that bitcoin transaction is ireversible, once you sent, there's no going back no matter how many layer of security they have.

Yeah I know that the transactions are irreversible regardless but if the the security features are improved on , hacking will be difficult and illegal transactions can easily be traced or tracked.

I think the transactions being traced or tracked defeats the purpose of most cryptocurrency as most of these cryptos adapted the anonymous transaction features of bitcoin, the public ledger

It doesn't defeat the aim of the Crypto currency because tracking of transactions will only warrant or come to existence when there is fraud or people are duped of substantial amount of Bitcoin or Crypto currencies.

It kinda defeats the purpose yup, but alas people already find a way to trace bitcoin transaction and how to mark wallet (like how people know that the original fifty btcs were possibly from satoshis' wallet).

It is better that they find a way to so that people with the intention to use it negatively will think twice , if you don't use it for illegal transactions you will worry less about the anonymity.

People will always find a way to do bad things with crypto or not. The fact that crypto can be used without middle man is enough reason for criminals to keep on using it.
