That's very bad to here. I know the banks are taking such steps because they don't get much savings or investment from many people because everyone now is focusing on crypto currencies investment.
Yes oh. Since the banks don't pay interest on money deposited with them. One has no option than to withdraw his/her money and invest it on what will be bringing interest to him. The banks are no longer profitable because of greed and selfish interest.

Yes, l think as for the bank interest rate being lower, it's general and because of that most of us are now investing in crypto currency especially with bitcoin and ethereum.

And these has brought hatred which leads cbn to impose a banned on crypto currency trading as they know longer have money to spend lavishly. No body now want to leave their money in the bank again

Yeah when this thread was created things were very smooth no it wasn't formally legalized but these security exchange commission was considering how best they can regulate it before the recent cbn ban. Let us be very optimistic the narrative will change positively soon.

I do hope that CBN changes its stance on the crypto issue soon enough. Firstly, it was just too abrupt and they haven't been able to come up with serious reasons for the ban.

Yeah there should have been a kind of stakeholders meeting especially with the key players in the cryptocurrency sector in Nigeria considering the fact that the cryptocurrency sector has a huge market capitalisation and it provides opportunity for the unemployed and that of many Nigerians.

Yes, I also heard cryptocurrency is being legil in Nigeria . Therefore many countries are not give permission of cryptocurrency it is very important for us because we are going to have knowledge about this
Cryptocurrency is not legal currently though there is ongoing talk as regards to regulating the Crypto currency amongst the CBN , SEC and other stakeholders.

Looks like it's just a few months since they allow Cryptocurrency and then they proceed to ban it after the next few months.. just wow... Makes me think they didn't study anything regarding their laws

They never allowed it formally, SEC had the intention to regulate it considering the sector was growing but the CBN shared a different opinion.

Any country's government has no right to control crypto , a decentralized currency. One can easily exchange his crypto for Fiat via foreign exchange. No one can ban crypto , that's my thought.

The guise that is used to prevent exchanges from carrying out businesses in corroboration with local banks, hence, there can be no depositing or withdrawal through those sites. This ends up frustrating users and those exchange sites owners.

I think the central bank of Nigerian didn't ban crypto currencies, they are only against crypto interference into the banking sector, and that was why the Nigerian naira was removed from luno wallet.
I think that the directives that keep banks from dealing with exchange sites is tantamount to banning Cryptocurrencies since you cannot deal on cryptos now until you involv a third party through the p2p trading.

No, ban is quite different from regulations for now the central bank of Nigerian is yet to review their conclusion concerning crypto currency, when they finally reopen withrawall through luno wallet, then we can be sure that the ban has been lifted.
I also look forward to that lifting. The last I heard was that major stakeholders are in talks with the CBN for a rescinding of that decision and embracing regulations instead.
