Hard decision for a guy like me. I don't know a thing about domains, TLDs I heard they call them! Nice indeed!
.com vs .net vs .org.png

But which domain extension is best for my website? I want to make an authority site, compelling content, real stuff!

In my opinion .com domains inspire more credibility than .net domains or .org domains, people are very used with .com because is the oldest, is most used, and best for building brands in the WWW world! Also if your visitors type in your domain url and hit enter a .com is a must, but if your visitors figure out your domain name is .net and not .com and they remember it clearly and fast than you've got ZERO problems.

The coolest way is to have your TLD like http://del.icio.us/.
After .com domains, .net domains and .org domains are most popular TLDs. Years ago .org domains were for non-profit organizations and .net domains were for Internet companies, however nowadays you can do what you want, nobody can stop you.

I cannot say which is the best. However, they have to be treated differently. For instance, .org is for non-profits and looks silly with a profitable website. On the other hand, .net and .com work well with commercial websites, but the .com allows for branding without the domain extension attached, unlike with the .net or .org. For instance, a website called SodaPopForum.com can be called Soda Pop Forum, not just SodaPopForum.com.

There is no real difference between .com and .net, it is just that .com is more generally defined global domain extension, if you have intentions are to be global and you can find a .com, then register it. As for .org the majority of people associate it with non-profit organisations.

Simply put I strongly think .com domain extension is the best for a website. Whenever I am looking to get a domain I only look out for a .com. I see the extension as far reaching market wise and a unique global brand.

Everyone with a serious project would always go for the .com domain extension and this extension ranks higher on search engines,so .com is readily the best.So in my opinion.com and .net is manageable but .org is mostly for non-professional sites.

In my opinion these two domain extensions .com and .org are mostly used with .com taking the lead as it is most used and ranked in the search engine like lovely rightly said but .org are mostly used by organization that are really earning via Adsense

I recommend dot ORG. The extension reveals some state of quality in the activities of the site. For example,moneymake.org, could reveal greatly the sense that your site is the founder of money making.

.com all the way as best and well known as well as being the standard for a domain and even someone with out that much web history now what .com means

For an organization, I'd definitely go for .org as it makes others easier to understand. For company, I prefer .com. This is just personal preference, but it seems like .com is more popular and I actually trust sites with .com more. It looks like .com is more for company or commercial use, and I didn't know what .net is for until I searched more information about it. It was initially intended for network-related business, such as Internet or email providers. So I think .com might still be a better option for any company or website, other than organizations and Internet providers.

.COM stands for commercial, .org, organization, .net i don't know. But who knows what's gonna happen when .com gets saturated. Will it still be the number one most popular? these days .io is popping up so much. Amidst all that, I still prefer .COM.

I don't believe .com will become any less popular, even if it gets "saturated". .com is just so ubiquitous now, that people almost instinctively type it. Hell, there's even a shortcut in most browsers that automatically adds .com to the end of whatever's in the address bar and then go to that website (ctrl-enter).

That's believe but let's come to reality, whatever has a start, will have an end right? You know that you really need find a meaningful name for your website right?

Every single day that passes, more and more of all the meaningful phrases in the .com domain are being taken by someone else (not available), but if you search the same name in .net .org .io or something else you find it still available right?

Ok. with this trend, you really think .com will not be saturated one day, in reality? Only english language can save .com. They need provide more words or .com will definitely come to go down someday. Im not talking about just in our generation, even though it may be. Im talking about one day. :Hilarious::Hilarious:

They are all top authority. Pick .com if that is available, if it is too expensive or squatted it doesnt matter and you can pick the .net or .org
Depending on what way you need to reach people.
I have a few sites with .club domain and those rank fine on Google, so you do not have to worry about that.

I agree that to become an authority site, a .com would be preferable, but saying that search engines list them higher is a myth. I wanted people to be able to find my by Googling my username, so I bought the .info domain several years ago and in a few months of effort it was ranked #1 in Google and has been there ever since.
