There's no doubt that YouTube is the most popular video streaming platform out there. It has the highest number of users and content creators.
With the recent hype and popularity of blockchain based solutions, we've seem some decentralized blockchain based video streaming platform popping up with the aim of replacing centralized platforms like YouTube.
Even Felix Kjellberg (PewDiePie) YouTube most popular individual content creator recently partnered with Dlive a decentralized live streaming platform cause he was fed up with YouTube politics and want to try something new.
While i would say decentralized platforms aren't a bad idea, my question is does these platforms have what it takes to win YouTube?

For now, no cause YouTube is pre-installed in billions of devices, optimized to run in slow internet connection for millions of people living in third world countries, and more than half the population of our planet that aren't familiar to decentralized platforms use and promote it regularly on different TV channels, radio stations, etc. Probably after a couple of decades, decentralized platforms can be a second choice to YouTube.

If Youtube continue this way soon it will lose many visitors, especially in gaming part. Last News is they will block blood in videos so gamers will go away. Also ads on start of video, very often non related to video, will drive away rest of population.

Youtube and decentralized apps or sites in my opinion youtube will get better with time its time they start taking action though certainly others are coming tough with great concepts ...

I hope this happens. We need a decentralised platform with same layout and features as youtube. So people can easily make the switch.

You've made a very important point, the fact that YouTube comes pre installed on most devices means YouTube will more likely get new users with every device sold. Am just hoping one of these decentralized video platform will partner with flagship device manufacturers so that their app (webview or native) will come pre installled with these devices. This will be a really good starting point just like Samsung partnership with Enjin.

YouTube keep trying some dumb things and most of the time it's content creators that are mostly affected. Alot of content creator are really fed up with YouTube politics but the honest truth is that there are currently no better alternative out there. Am seeing this as a chicken or egg situation where users don't want to try new platform cause they are not alot of content/content creators and content creators don't want to try new platforms cause they lack users.

I don't see this playing out any time soon. The market reach of YouTube is very large. Not many people know about cryptocurrency too, and even I just learnt today of decentralized streaming channels.
