Hi all BMF members

I just read this article that showed that according to Bitcoin Block Bot, there is a BTC whale that has just move over 104 million dollars in bitcoin. The question that I have for all of the members here is what do you make of that whale activity? Do you think that this move is in anticipation of a price drop?

Personally, I feel that whale transactions like this generally result in a decline in BTC value, however, i have also noticed that this has not always been the case. What do you think?

I look forward to all the comments in this thread.

Well, dear friend, forgive me but currently I have not yet heard about whales for the movement of Bitcoin.
But thank you for telling me this, (and rightly to make this known, even to other users who do not know).
I will let you know.
Greetings.

I believe this whales work with experts and they invest so much and they tried to avoid great losses. I think it might be a decline in the price or value in BTC

The possible decline in the btc price is a probably scenario in my opinion as well, because the movement of such a large amount of btc will increase supply. If the demand stays the same this will ultimately lead to a drop in price.

Sorry dear BMF friend. But there is still something that is not clear to me at all: What are these whales, in theory?
Thank you.

Whales are those that have a lot of bitcoins. Generally it is for the people that hold at least 1000 btc. As a result they have a lot to do with the supply and demand of the code and can be considered to be manipulators of the market.

Now I understand, thanks to you, my dear friend.
Also I would say, very rich people, given the current value of a single Bitcoin ...

I agree with you here. These people would be owning bitcoin into the millions of dollars in terms of what they are worth. If you ask me they were extremely lucky to have invested in it when the price was low and are reaping the benefits now. I wish i had just 1 btc.

Well, me too, dear friend.
Think that the calculation at this exact moment is equal to: 1 Bitcoin = $ 10,758.10.
And who wouldn't want to own at least only one of them?

Did the whale move bitcoin to an exchange? Usually when that happens it leads to a price drop and when bitcoin leaves exchanges it leads to a price increase.

Extremely lucky indeed. Many of us wished we had the foresight to have invested in even just 1btc or .5btc, that is still a tidy sum.

Finally only now I know what whales are, in the world of cryptocurrencies.
So, let's imagine the ocean, where there are many small holders of Bitcoin.
Whales, on the other hand, are great investors, as well as owners of many Bitcoins.
Someone correct me, please if I'm wrong.
Thank you.

Yes you are 100% correct in your thinking. They are huge crypto owners, and as a result their investment portfolio is also very large compared to all of us. In all honest, if this was an ocean, we are just a drop in the ocean compared to the whales, who own bulk of the bitcoin in circulation.

Indeed. This explains exactly the reason why they are called whales.
You know, I never would have known before ...
Thank you.

At times whales just as all of us have need for money, this he might move it to get money for another investment or to solve a problem. It is not a must that the movement had to be with respect to fall or raise in price

You are right. There is no direct link. However being in the need for money would result in you making a smaller sale in my opinion. Especially for immediate use if it was a financial concern. Trading of such a high value is more likely to have a higher price impact and could be a way for him/her to try and manipulate the market.

Well, I agree with your point, the fact is that whales will always have an edge in cryptocurrency. They have the power to manipulate the market because of what they have in their possession

We can hardly say if this move was made to affect the bitcoin price either negatively or positively but since it was worthy of news, there must have been an anticipation of such.

You're right! People watch for signs like this and, regardless of the coin owner's intention, it can cause the market to shake up. Why move so many coins? There's a good chance that they're looking to sell and if thats the case the price will certainly be affected negatively.
