When you first join the online workforce and want to make money with a website, affiliate marketing, blogging, or even vlogging, it can be a difficult choice. Each adventure you undertake has some major learning curves, ups and downs, and many disappointments. Therefore, before you decide on what you want to do for your content marketing efforts it is best to explore the different possibilities. In this tutorial, I'll be talking about blogging and vlogging. What is the difference between the two, which is best to choose, and how they differ?

What Are Blogging and Vlogging?

I'm sure everyone by now knows what a blog site is and how to create one. There are many different ways you can host a blog site, post content, and choose a niche for your site. However, Vlogging is very similar to blogging, but with vlogging, you care to create video blogs. Each one of these strategies is effective and can earn you money and drive more visitors to your website.

As a website owner, they now use blogs and vlogs to help drive more traffic to their website. Once your website is up and running it is now time to decide which is best for your site. Should you create a blog or a vlog?

Choosing Your Subject:

On your site, you want to create content that will engage your audience. On a blog site you can easily:
  • Write product reviews.
  • Provide instruction or how to article to help your readers.
  • Provide updates for the products.
  • Give advice.
  • Give long and detailed information.
  • Great for research and giving details about a country or a subject matter.
However, if you want to show a product, how it works, or even how to make a cake or even a craft, it is not so easy to write out the instruction. Therefore, it is a great idea to make a video to do this for you. This is a vlog that you can show on your site or on any video hosting company such as YouTube. Instead of writing out your content, you are giving visual content for a person to follow along. If you own a craft blog this is a good way to show a person how to make a new craft project. People who own cooking blogs will use this method to teach a person how to cook a new dish.

Skill Levels:

If you want to create a blog site you should have the following skill level:
  • Being a great writer is a must. You need to produce blog content that is error-free and easy to read. You can't add content to your site that has misspelled words or is filled with grammar errors.
  • Blog sites take time to write the content and proofread your work before it is posted online.
  • Having a knowledge and understanding of web design is a must. There are many free sites out there that offer you a way to host a blog site for free and they also supply you with the software to do this with. But unless you have a little knowledge and can modify your design, the site won't be very interesting at all.
  • Knowledge of SEO and how to use keywords in your content. You'll need to work hard to improve your blog so that you can rank well with Google. You need to drive traffic to your site in order to rank with search engines.

To create a vlog you'll need the following skill levels:
  • No need to worry about being a fantastic writer, all you need to care about is having charisma so that people will watch your videos.
  • You'll need to know how to create an entertaining video that people will want to watch.
  • You will need to have the appeal on the camera and be able to talk to people and keep them entertained. If you can't write a script to do this, then it is best that you stick to blogging instead.
Investment and Cost:

Vlogging can be a bit expensive to get the necessary equipment and software for filming and editing your videos before they are posted online. Furthermore, if you want to attract a large audience, you may need to invest in a set so you can film on the set. This will all depend on you and what you are trying to do.

Blogging is a bit cheaper, but you still need to invest in a hosting company and pay for your domain name registration. The price will depend on the hosting company you choose and how much space you require for your site.

Conclusion:

Both blogging and vlogging offer you the opportunity to make money online doing what you love to do. You just need to consider what you want to offer your readers or your viewers before you decide which is best for you. Just keep in mind, no matter what you choose they will both take a large amount of work to find followers for your blog site, or subscribers for your videos.

Which do you recommend - blogging or vlogging?

I think Vlogging is an interesting venture to embark upon. It still takes just as much effort as Blogging, but you've got to show your face, and you have to have personality. I also think a lot of people enjoy that type of blogging because you get to feel more connected to the person that is doing the Vlog, and they kind of feel more like friends than a stranger. So I think you should shoot for the Vlogging this time around.
Do what you are enjoying to do , you can make money doing any things you should only continue doing what you do

i think it is depend on your audience.. if you already have a blog which generate a very good traffic, them why you should turn into vlogging??
I agree some of the time audience loves text based writing. and some of the time they like the video. so on that basis. I'd say it's worth going for the vlogging if you can. and if not there is always the text based blogging. so it all depends on how you handle that. apart from that it's also possible that you make some decent subscribers along the way.

Depends on what your blogging topic or niche if we have to broaden it a little. If you intend to post lots of game tutorials, DIY stuff, technology stuff or anything that needs a lot of visual content then I'd recommend choosing a Vlog because users will find your content more helpful if they can actually see how something is done.

If for example you want to show someone how a phone is operated video would be the better medium.

If your Vlog won't fit any of those categories then it would be wiser to choose a blog, create for a few videos from time to time and if site visitors like the videos, you could start a Vlog and use your blog to promote it.

This. I totally agree on this. If you are very expert in blogging you should start your vlog using your blog (I'm not sure if that's confusing, but yeah) and start to create simple videos inside your blog. Blogging doesn't really require 'Face' to get the attention of audience but more on the way you write your blog. Vlog in the other hand, your personality or appearance in your videos. I haven't really tried Vlogging but that's what I'm seeing in most of the vloggers.

Blogging > mostly people can do it.
Vlogging > not everyone does that.

You should go for Vlogging it's not that easy compared to Blogging but more worth if you're putting your hard work. And it's more interest gaining for visitors.
When you want to make a career as a vlogger it is better to accumulate some experience about how to make videos to look professional,entertaining....And take into consideration to smile a lot in your videos(which is better about your hobbies, what you like to do)and that will bring joy and enthusiasm in your videos...

You have to be passionate to do it. My blog doesnt make much money, not even enough to cover hosting at the moment, but I enjoy doing it. I do want to venture into Vlogging when I have more time. They both take time and effort. Do it for the passion rather than the money.

What should I choose for my next online venture... blogging or vlogging?
I am into blogging recently. However, I also thought of vlogging. I actually already an account for vlogging but I am not active yet. I have tried shooting some videos of myself and I felt like I need more practice to look like I have a conviction myself when I open my mouth. I guess it takes a lot of courage and confidence to do so.

My advice is just go for it. Some of the best Youtubers did not start out shooting awesome videos and ive seen some of them do reviews of their original videos 'saying omg look at me, then' type thing. It takes time to build an audience so start sooner. Ping me a message when you get something up would love to check it out :)

Some of the youtubers in past were good at the text content. and then they started to have more conversation. and they also have more people who they are serving now. so on that point, i think it's better to get the vlogging to work. i hope that a lot of peolpe can add quality content in this process. i have realized that often the ads from youtube may not generate enough revenue. but you have to keep pushing and see what may work or not.

Well, it depends on the skill you have. But, in most cases blogging has higher chances of earning. Why? Because through blogging, there are tons of ways to earn money.

I don't' experience in vlogging but I think it takes a time and effort same as a blogger, but some of my friends are there and they earned a lot of buck because of their videos and places.

I think blogging is much easier than vlogging, but it really depend on your personality. Part of me wanted to be a vlogger, but I don't have the guts to show some nice talking in front of the camera. I should better express what I feel through writing though.

Vlogging takes a lot of time and effort cause you need to have the video editing skills and all but compared to blogging, you can earn more readers and viewers tru vlogging.

I want to go by the interview granted Toke Makinwa a renowned blogger turned vlogger. She said with vlogging you don't need to do much like blogging and I have been thinking of vlogging than blogging.

Vlogging doesn't need one writing and researching to come up with an article, trying to get your tenses right or give an article that is without grammatical errors.Vlogging just need you uploading interesting videos and I noticed that people are geared toward visuals and audios these days, maybe because mere watching a thing you one understands it better.

I will write that if you're not so good with words, expression, brevityand good knowledge of a niche, then try vlogging.you might do better.

It's whatever you enjoy doing most. Both are good, and potentially you could do both. If it was me, I would probably go for blogging since you express yourself with writing long articles about whatever you enjoy doing in your spare time.

Vlogging is very different from Blogging. You earn more money on Vlog & get publicity and became famous. While blog your articles are being reviewed and get paid . theres a lot of uppotunity on Vlog. You became instany celebrity if your vlog got connected millions of fans
