If mining bitcoin is less difficult now, it would be nice to see its effect on the transaction fees of the coin. The fees too should reduce to reasonable ranges also.

From what i have seen teh fees have been reduced, however it is still considerably high in relation to other coins. I think that the bitcoin network needs a major upgrade so that it can handle multiple transactions simultaneously.
