❓ASK Bitcoin has increased criminality

Yes you can say so because hackers, attackers use it to get payments through it because of its anonymous payment processing system. The latest 'Wannacry' ransomeware attack is a horrific example of it.

You know when the word hacker was invented... it had other meaning, which is DOING GOOD. The thing is that other people which have bad behavior decided to use the word hacker and do bad things with it and that's why we all now are afraid of the word hacker.

Recently I read on the internet that Bitcoin is the reason for criminality increase.I wonder how that could be possible ? What made bitcoin increase the criminality rate?
It seems absurd to me,to make such a statement.I think that somebody started saying this who doesn't love very much the Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a value like Dollar, or gold.

Yes, I have personally did a course on hacking from a reputable institution. The choice of work is wrong.

What you are saying is also true. I am also one of the benefactor of Bitcoin booming and I am holding 0.2 BTC. But the fact that the transactions of recent ransomeware attack 'Wannacry' was done through Bitcoin can't be denied.

Bitcoin has always been a popular currency among users of Deep Web's sites/shops.
There they sell drugs and weapons (and other illegal goods or services), and BTC transactions can be anonymous.
It's been this way since BTC was invented, a long time ago.
Then I guess you can evade taxes and commit other minor crimes, such as the hack activities mentioned before.

My speculation is that this could be one possibility of the mafia and rich people adding the money. For example those who want to do the money laundering, they can use cryptocurrency. And this will help them secure funds. You can then go to another country, take the money down. Nobody can find the traces. And then it's easy to work around with that money. I personally think that lot of criminal funding is stored in current value of bitcoin.

At some point, it is really true. Bitcoin maybe adding some percentage in the increase of criminality in some ways or another. It cannot be helped since bitcoin is a money too, an e-money to be exact. And money is the root of all evil, ain't it?

Well, we have to admit that having such transactions which are not made person to person I mean where they see each other and shake hands and other stuff makes it harder for the police and other institutions to work and catch the bad guys especially with the bitcoin popularity nowadays. I now know why USA is planning on creating a new cybersecurity/cyberattack division where it will be easier to catch people.

Crypto-currencies, and Bit Coin in particular, have become a magnet for money laundering in organized crime circles. This is highly unfortunate as it could be used as a semi-legitimate excuse to crack down on these currencies in developed economies once they become a threat to the established national currency. I would expect at some point in the future we'll see either forced national regulation of crypto-currencies, or an outright ban on their use.

I agree, because its hackable and a lot of of people are doing bad things just to get easy bitcoins

I do think that governments might gather together to put start a war against cryptocurrencies, either on a silent way or loud way .. Having cryptocurrencies used to pay for crimes such as drug trades or anything similar will be tough to catch .. either they gonna start a division which can catch crimes that were paid with cryptocurrencies or they will start a war

In general, maybe it's true, but the amount is medium, because it's hard in some countries to cash out BTC and pay to gang members and so on.
It's more one person theater than huge group activity. And cash was flowing before in crime trough different schemes , before BTC was in use or you think that crime birth is same as cryptocurrency birth?

My only objection to Bitcoin is its ability to facilitate criminal transactions in the Deep web.
back in the days, if somebody wants to purchase drugs, he has to go out and meet the dealer physically, so he has to meet certain conditions to do so, like being able to run when the police embark, now everyone can buy drugs and all the illegal goods imaginable from the comfort of his home, a 10-year-old kid could do that easilly, so, it's a paradise found for dealers.
Our internet as we know it is nothing compared to the deep web, and this issue needs to be solved quickly or it would be the death of cryptocurrency in general, not just Bitcoin.

What I'm saying is that people involved in crimes can easily cashout.. the only thing u need is Internet and you can cashout your money via BTC - USD exchange websites. So in my opinion , crime groups or so called gangs can be more tough to catch .

Only problem is corruption that make things longer/harder, but today is so easy to spy after people by their device if you will be suspected and live like medium payed worker without work :)
It's so easy check and follow your real life transactions bank/shop bills and make puzzle together, only hard part is to get papers for legal spying :)

You have a point there , my friend . People who wanna buy drugs now can simply pay with BTC or any other cryptocurrency which means they don't handle the money to the sellers in person and the drugs can be shipped by a middleman which makes the job for the police even more tough.

Cryptocurrency makes it possible for you to buy the currency and avoid any traces of it being used. So that cna be really good way to manage the bitcoin. And this way you can have the anonymity. So considering that part, you can see that in some cases it'd be reasonable to have the bitcoin in your side. You can have it just in case there is economical and financial fall out these days as well. That's something I want to know.

That's why bitcoin is good. Its kind of more secure/private than real money, and in my opinion you can avoid being tracked on your devices.Nowadays, every single device can track you, and government can get info about you whenever they want.Even, Microsoft Windows 10 tracks people, but you can easily disable that in the settings.

You buy it to some wallet with address, every next transaction have address, if you know address you can track information. Yeah i agree it's hard to get instantly something, but all transactions is saved and you just need to find right one.

And to get someones criminal address you try to buy from him drugs and later scan his transaction history and try find other side people real identity
