A bitcoin core developer, known for his contribution to the bitcoin community has announced on Twitter that he lost most or all of his Bitcoin through an attack.
He asked for support from the federal bureau of investigation to take action. It seems that his computer got compromised and the bitcoins has been transferred out of his wallets.

Yes, from what I heard Binance and other cryptographic entities would be following these transactions and the wallets that those coins arrive in so that they cannot sell them and get hold of the loot, no one is really safe from these malicious hackers

Wow, that is so unfortunate. As a core developer, I am sure that he a high amount of Bitcoin in his wallets. These hackers have become really malicious. I am glad that Binance and other exchange platforms are helping track the criminals. This is a caution for everyone holding Bitcoin to be really careful.

Although I am really surprised that someone like that got his account hacked , I think that means the hacker must be a very professional kind , then something needs to be done ,so that the hacker wallet address could actually be tracked in that order

He should ask help from exchanges so if they get a transaction from the compromised wallet they can stop it from going and hopefully perhaps it can be retrieved to him.. he should use hardware wallet thought. why would he just store it in his computer

Yeah I believe since exchange now makes KYc verification process compulsory he could actually meet the exchange platform and lay complaint , probably they would be able to trace the hacker that stole the money

So sorry for his loss, this is a very sad news for crypto currency enthusiasts all over the world, I just hope the FBI takes the necessary action and fish out those involved in this attack.

The hackers can still be tracked. That's only if the platform where the incident happened really wanted to help. However, this should serve as a lesson to us to really make sure we keep on necessary security measures in place to safeguard our coins.

When I read this news I was a little thoughtful, since I use Bitcoin Core on my computer, and if its founder stole the bitcoins to anyone could happen, worse good being the developer would have it in the eye of this hackers, but as this could have happened, they would have to have stolen the wallet.dat file somehow, which is where the seed keys are stored, I don't understand.

Hackers don't really target small Bitcoin holders rather they target those that have much coins in their accounts. But this doesn't mean that the small holders should not really take necessary precautions on how to protect their coins.

They are so interested in making more money so their target are actually big platform , exchange platform and not just small account holders ,they need more money since they already spend more in buying softwares to run their hacks

Though, the platform is not mentioned, this should be a wake up call for all trading platforms that they need to protect the crypto coins of their users by making sure they put in place strong security measures

Most trading platform usually have some kind of security leak too no doubt , it should actually just be a wake up call for the platform to actually to put in the tight security and others , they should be placed consideration

Yes, it is clear that we must take the measures, but what surprises me is that with such good security that Bitcoin core has, and this being its developer they have managed to hack him, they must have used some kind of pretty good trick.

This is very common these days even the playform from which he made the announcement is under radar as Twitter has become more active platform hackers are always there to get access to your account in the most easy of manners possible indeed actually .

Although lest it could be that they have been targeting him ,or it could be some kind of insider that gives the hackers the information , because it's really hard to just hack a core developer successfully

That's right but you know that the hackers of today are doing pretty impressive work and that is why you should always be careful and not ready to be careless else this can happen to anyone actually .

The fact is that to hack a wallet in Bitcoin core, you have to get a file called wallet.dat, which is where the seed phrases are stored, and it is quite protected, on the other hand they have to have used some type of remote access, because if you try to open the file at no time shows you the seed phrases, you can only copy and paste the file to gain access to the wallet in question

The hacking must be from the same developers. It may be difficult to hack into such a coin without any tip from someone that knows much about how the coin always work. So it doesn't surprise me at all

Probably someone close had gained acess to it and was able to share to the hackers , because I really know that core developer is actually not to careless not to have put a two factor authentication something
