With the increased popularity of crypto there are many people that are now trying to get in on it, however there are also many others that are trying to scam their way into people giving them crypto. One of the ways that they do this is to create a duplicate website that looks exactly like the original, and change the domain. For example a crypto site such as 'bitcoinclaims.com', may becomes 'bitcoinclaims.org'. This is a small change and may be hard to pick up on, however when you log in there they will take your log in and password and can use it to access your original account or even other accounts if you use the same password for many sites. Therefore you have to be very careful. Always check teh domain is right before entering a site.

Thanks for the enlightenment , i have experience same thing, some newbies really need to know about this ,so that they won't be scammed by the unknown site i think.

Thanks, scammers are used to this kind of games , they do such when the Crypto market is pumping hard because at that moment people are impatient to verify authenticity because of FOMO

My advise is to use a password manager like lastpass that automatically checks for the correct domainname you registered to. If they then try to fool you Lastpass lets you know it's a different address. Another quite usefull thing about password managers is that you can use a different password for every site and/or wallet. That way you're better protected if you get scammed after all.

Such type of scams are not new. I remember when I was new to earning online, there was a site which was exactly Duplicate of liberty reserve. I accidentally entered my details but later find out that it's a scam site. I immediately changed my password.

This and always go with OTP when possible some sites support that feature.
In addition, password manager also let you use super strong password of 64+ Character with beautiful alfnum + special chars glibberish without f*** up your brain

OTP is the best way to protect account. The password somehow can be hacked. But If you have OTP enabled in your account. Then it will hard to crack your account.

It is good that you were able to pick up on this at an early stage and be able to change your password before there was any losses to your account and funds. What drew your attention to it after entering your information?

it is a matter of concern that there are so many scam sites which are launching on a daily basis. Crypto market has been the best place for those scammers to fool people and loot their money. We should always look out for any scam sites before investing money in them.

At the moment it is quite easy to create your own website and that is why people are taking advantage of the fact that it is so easy to create website and also that cryptocurrency transactions can't be traced. So I think that scammers are actually trying to take advantage of this and create duplicates of a website in order to try andlure newbies in crypto.

Also there is a lack of regulations regarding such crypto transactions. So anyone with the intention of scamming people can easily create a website and transact through such crypto coins to scam people.

there are so many sites we have to careful about domain that now people buy domain and converts names and sites interface with new projects and we easily join because the new interface always attracts us.

This is not tied to only Cryptocurrencies but also sites where you can earn or even make transactions. Examples include online shopping sites, survey sites and so on.
Since ever the crypto market is growing, I feel the scam sites are growing even faster. It is becoming difficult to differentiate between a legitimate site and scam site now a days.

I don't why some people just like to be scammers instead of using their knowledge about things to contribute to the economy.
However thanks for enlightening us. We will be checking it henceforth

Yeah , a lot of people have fallen to this type of scam , they mistakenly log in to a site that appears similar to the site they have in mind .

This was very informative I hardly check for all these. This is a call for me to be more careful now. I will always try to check any site that I'm working with.

This is indeed an eye-opening point because when is to be very careful especially with cryptocurrency and that is why most times I prefer to use the app than the website.

Yeah, TLD change like that can trick people. But the more common threat is a scam site with only slightly different name like - instead of Freebitco.in, it's freeebitco.in, with three 'e'.
