I intend to launch a file sharing website similar to mediafire, 4shared... I want to know which is the best web hosting company which allow this kind of online business on their servers. Thanks for your time! ;)

You should consider acquiring VPS hosting or dedicated server because you need a lot of disk space and a lot of bandwidth. If you plan a small file sharing website than a scalable VPS is the right hosting solution for you. Among the best VPS hosting providers I can mention KnownHost, Liquid Web, WiredTree - all these companies offer cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and managed, unmanaged vps plus top notch support.

@Ares is right, a good VPS or a dedicated server, no provider will let you develop file sharing website on shared hosting.

Be careful with file sharing business, always make sure files you host are not mp3 or nulled scripts and such because sharing copyrighted files is illegal and will bring you problems, they basically shut down your website without options.

I wonder how much money can you make with a file sharing website these days?

For start you will need 2 dedicated servers, one for front end and one for file storage, one of the best script for starting a file sharing site is xFilesharing Pro, it around $100 and with some addons, you just set up yourself an online business.

For purchasing dedicated servers, I would recommend OVH, Hetzner, LeaseWeb, LiquidWeb.

VPS servers can be purchased from namecheap.com. I have been dealing with them for almost a year. They are more than wonderful. They have excellent technical support. I advise you to contact technical support via live chat and ask them about it.

You could try Hostmonster package which gives like 300 GB Space and 3000 bandwidth if you are not running a huge site ,this hosting site should be able to handle that.

Be careful with those sites. Check what users upload on site because of DMCA notice and possible lawsuits. I heard that some of hosting providers, after few complaints, delete your site withouth notice so check that with provider.

I think box.com and dropbox.c om seems to be a good options for hosting the files. and they seem to be allowing the files on the file sharing sites. that's something good enough if you ask me. some of the time this can bring some really good conversion in many ways. and it can be good enough for the file hosting websites too.

Depending on what you want to host there are different options. If you want to host the files yourself you need a VPS with a lot of storage. Especially if you want to store files. If you don't want to respond to every copyright claim go with an offshore VPS.
Those can be very expensive and might not be a good way to start. Most offshore hosting companies only offer a small amount of server storage.

If you want to host big files you need to go with something like Azure, but that means you have to be on point with removal of copyrighted files, because Microsoft will close your account if you don't act accordingly.

The longer I am thinking about this the more I think it might be better to just host everything on a server at home to offset the costs of storage. You can use cheapo HDDs instead of SSDs.

SiteGround has established itself for its speed and commitment to customer support. They ensure rapid loading times with their global network of data centers, all while maintaining robust security protocols. Additionally, if you plan to use WordPress for your file-sharing site, SiteGround provides managed WordPress hosting.

It depends on your preferences. Bluehost offers unlimited bandwidth and storage, and has an easy-to-use control panel. HostGator on the otherhand also offers unlimited bandwidth and storage, and has a user-friendly control panel.
