Best SSL Certificates Providers.png

I'd like to discuss SSL certificates and why they are so important. Furthermore, I'll review a few sites that sell SSL certificates and how much you can expect to pay. However, before I get started with this tutorial, I'd like to talk a little about what is an SSL certificate and why it is so important for you to have one on your website.

So what is the SSL certificate? It is actually a document of authority that was designed and is used to verify the source of your web pages, the domain name, and will allow you to open the door to exchange information and perform electronic financial transactions. Today this certificate is so important and if you want a person to trust your website, it is necessary that you have one on your site. Now the question is – who should you trust and where should you get this certificate from?

Below you'll find a few companies that offer SSL Certificates. You can review these companies and decide which one is best for you. Each site has different needs so it is necessary to review what each company has to offer before signing up with them.

Comodo SSL: This is a good, reliable company that offers you an SSL certificate for just $7.27 a year. The company offers you a DV level Positive SSL certificate that will run you $6.99 for two years. If you need a Premium SSL certificate you can get one for $56.99 for two years. Each one of the packages will come with a fully validated certificate, a 256-bit encryption and they also offer a $250,000 party warranty. Just keep in mind that this company will take a bit of time to validate your certificate and send it to you.

DigiCert: This company is a bit on the high side compared to the first company. Their certificates will cost $188 for the year. This company has recently acquired the Symantec's website and has started to implement a plan to use the Symantec products on DigiCert when it is appropriate.

Entrust Datacard: This is a company that s run by experts in the data security field. The average SSL certificates cost $208 for the year. This company is based in the US and has been in business since 1994. The service isn't all that reasonable, but they are an excellent company if you're interested.

GeoTrust: The company has a nice selection of SSL certificates to offer you. Their service starts around $87 for the year. This is a reasonably priced company and a good one to look into.

GoDaddy: Everyone knows about this company because of their web hosting services. You can also get an SSL certificate from them for $59.99 a year. If you host your site with GoDaddy then it is a good idea to get your SSL certificate from them too.

Network Solutions: This is another well know company online and a web giant in the industry. The company has SSL certificates for $124.50 a year. If you just need a base certificate they will run you $65 for the year.

RapidSSL: This is a company that you can look into because it actually aims their services around smaller businesses. So if you are a small business and need an SSL certificate this company offers you one for 2 years for $14.99.

There are plenty more companies out there and I'm sure you might know a few of them.

Who would you recommend and why?

You can get a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. You need to set up a website before you install your free SSL certificate. I would recommend SSL certificate as it keeps your site secure.

I'd rather using CloudFlare because it's not only SSL provider but also it protects your web site from DoS / DDoS attacks and optimize your site as well and it auto renews your certificate not like some providers which they gives you one for like 90 days and you've to renew it.

If you are going with paid SSL then there are plenty of options like thawte, mcafee and komodo. You can also go for the hosting providers SSL option. They do provide for say 20$ a year. And that would be good enough to get started. I have seen some of the people opting for Lets encrypt these days. That is indeed a good option. I'd prefer to use that free available option in that case.

Can someone try this out? It seems cool but I have no empty sites to test it on. :(
That site is offering free SSL but only to the startups and non profits. So here they may or may not allow it for the bloggers. So better to go with the lets encrypt. The reason being you can see that some of the SSL certificates from such type of providers may ask you for upsale. So they may end up showing the upsell notice. So it's better to make use of the other SSL providers like let's encrypt.

But what's the problem if it's blogger? Also you can give a try or contact their support formore info for more information.

AutoSSL seems to be a good optoin as they are upgrading. Blogger.com does not offer external SSL. they have their own SSL which is already applied to all the blogs. so you don't need external SSL anymore.

Im working with GeoTrust Inc, and Symantec WildCard SSL Certificate.

The Certificate cost ~150$ Year

If you search free SSL.
You can use LE(LetsEncrypt) or install Plesk on any System and get a free Symantec Site Starter Certificate.

Im also applying for Certificate Authorite on all Major Browsers, its a hard way because i only got approved by Opera & Mozilla.

I think autoSSL on cpanel is free. And it can get working after you just add the domain. So no need to configure anything. And it works very easily and updates per quarter. so it looks like a good option for anyone who wants such free SSL. I think komodo is another one but it is paid.

I think Godaddy offers the best and it a bit on the low side too,a standard package is about $70 while the deluxe package goes for $90 and one can actually customized this packages to suit what they want and what one will have good contact to the site support all the time in case of any queries.

Rapidssl and Namecheap are the most used premium ssl certs out there. The best free ssl cert is Let'sEncrypt.

Hi just curious, anyone can share what is the difference betweeen paid and free SSL?
It's both secure. If you would buy a certificate, you'll get support and warranty which you won't get if you got it for free. Also, a paid certificate holds your domain name. If you would use a Cloudflare SSL it will say xxxxxx.cloudflaressl.com on the certificate. But there is nothing wrong with a free certificate.

Thanks for the reply and it finally clear my doubts on that. Nowsaday a lot of web hosting service provider is providing free SSL which is actually in the first place is already free

Yes, but they won't give you a free SSL with your domain name. I contacted some web hosting companies and asked for more information about that. They all said the free SSL can be done with Cloudflare or LetsEncrypt. So if you ever come across a web hosting that offers free SSL, it's most of the time Cloudflare or Letsencrypt SSL. Nothing wrong with that, they do in some cases have a good tutorial or option on the admin panel to link a certificate easier.

I will say hostinger provide the best SSL certificate at $23.99 and it has a 50% discount which makes it $11.95 and it life time, I highly recommended hostinger
