I'm thinking about learning to code, but none of my friends know anything about and I couldn't decide which should I learn first. I have seen some people recommending C or C++, but I'm not sure. If you know how to code, which language did you learn first, and where do you think I should start?

I see a lot of people suggesting Python and I think for most people that is a great recommendation. As Danny B. says so above though, it's not a one-size-fits-all go to language to start though. If you have a goal in mind already, you should start somewhere that makes sense for you.

If you're looking to get into mobile app development, then you should look into Java for Android and Swift for iOS. Danny B. makes some good suggestions for websites above. Python is great for data science.

If you're looking to learn programming from a fundamentals standpoint and really interested in learning, then I would highly recommend Java. It is a highly structured language while still being fast and powerful, and as an established language there is a ton of resources out there that can help. If you have a good understanding of Java, then you can transfer that knowledge set to almost any other language. When it comes to practical use, most job interviews for programmers include a larger programming exercise, and Java is an accepted as a universally understood language by pretty much everyone, so even if you the position is expected to be written in some language, it's often easier to answer with Java.

I think you should go with learning C language. C is a middle-level language. C is a structural language and Java is a pure object-oriented language. Before learning the object-oriented language, we must have a structural language knowledge.

Learn Html first then CSS then PHP

1. HTML = Hyper Text Markup Language
2. CSS = Brain Killer
3. PHP = Money Machine

If you want to lean Web Development first you should think about to do a Project.

Like Creating a Website with Registration+Login function or something else. It doesnt need to look good.

W3Schools is a very nice Site to learn and its free.

You can learn programming pretty easily with some nice online video courses in the microsoft virtual academy.
https://mva.microsoft.com/
They are free and they are quite good for beginner. You can try it out and find out, if you even like programming.
It's not as easy as it looks in the movies :-)

You must learn a language that you would use in the future , you may start with HTML , the most language used by the websites , then you can try with PHP , you will need this to script a website .

Better then other other languages , that looks complicated for me and it's hard to learn it directly from the internet unlike HTML and PHP .

C is the starting point for all pro programmers. C has all the necessary ideas that are the concepts used to come up with other languages. After C then you go C++, then to Python. That way you will learn easily from basics to advanced.

Python is by far the best language to learn first in my opinion, its easy to memorize, easy to use, and will introduce you into the mechanics of programming, it is for sure worth checking out.

Once you have python under your arm you can slowly move onto other languages and instead of starting off with them without any grasp of programming or how functions work or whatever, you will be able to understand them more, therefore making them quite a bit easier for you to learn and grasp.

programming isnt something everyone can do.. its done all over the world and in about every language there is.. Id stick to your own language and work from there. I think youll be busy enough.. good luck !!!

Python's a good language to start with. It's adaptable and good for beginners. If you're interested in web development, learn HTML, CSS and Javascript (and if you want to save time coding JS in future, learn jQuery), then try PHP and others like it.

As a begineer you need to consider about easy and relaible languge / my choice is go for java or python ...they are the most beginner-friendly and good demanded languages in future also

before heading into programmation , i would suggest you to learn algorithms first, they give you an idea about the concept of programmation, then you can start with python or visual basic, they are both easy

I'd recommend you to learn Python, as it's an easy-to-learn and useful let alone that it is the way to other languages, i'd recommend c++ if you want to learn some serious stuff.

C language is the best programming language to start with as it builds your logic development and has easy syntax, and then you can easily switch to any other language!

Just don't get bogged down in the detail. There are so many algorithms of vary complexity, so dint outpace yourself. justlearn the basics first

I suggest you focus more on learning the basics of programming. Programming does not only exist for fun but majorly to solve problems. So learn how to think out solutions to common problems around you. Understand what loops, variables etc are. Once you have understood programming, you can now venture into picking a programming language. Programming languages are just tools so anyone can do. You can go with python or dart

You can also go for learning Python as it's also very syntax friendly and easy to develop logic in it!
It also has huge application in modern day apps and games!

For me,C++ is the best language to build a base on and then take other complex programming languages!
It helps in your basics and then every language will be easy for you!

You should not view programming as a journey but instead as solving specific problems. If you will want to become a data scientist then it is best that you should learn something like r or python. If you want to become a mobile application engineer then it is advisable that you should learn Java or swift depending on the operating system that you will want to specialise on.

The answer is based on the type of programmer you wish to be. JavaScript is arguably the best option for beginners if you're interested in programming for websites and mobile applications. Even though it's simple to learn, it has some strength that will make things interesting as you grow.
