Help me decide which is the best file sharing and storage company nowadays.

I cannot decided between the following: Mega, Dropbox and MediaFire, but other options are also welcome if you used. Thank you!

As of 2016 the best file sharing site is box dot com as for me. I am rating from your lists as follows.
!. Dropbox
2 Mediafire
3.Mega
We see any site is same just like an hosting business, so test it from your side that loads faster and keeps data secure.

I use Google Drive which gives 15 GB of free storage space for me. I think almost all Internet users must be having a Google account and in that case Google Drive is an added advantage for you. With Google Chrome extension you are now able to view and edit most of the Microsoft Office programs like MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. If you want more space, just pay $2 a month and 100 GB will be yours. For $10 per month you can hire an amazing 1TB storage space. I would definitely recommend Google Drive for anybody who is looking for a free online storage and file sharing option.

But as you know nowadays there are ample options for everything, online storage space is also filled with a large number of options. It is somewhat difficult to decide which is the best one among famous online storage options like Mega, Dropbox and MediaFire. Let's look at some of the key features and also what is left in Google Drive.

  • Space – I think this is the most important factor you are looking for. How much space is there to store and share your data? I think in the matter of storage space Mega is a clear winner. It gives you a whopping 50GB of free space. Dropbox will only give you 2GB free space. MediaFire offers 10GB of free space and you can increase it upto 50GB with referrals. Google Drive offers 15GB free space. I think Google Drive is the most user-friendly and simple to use online storage as of now.
  • Features – This is the next key deciding factor. I think it is quite difficult to reach a conclusion based on the features because almost all storage services give you the best features available as of now like sync files between various devices, file and folder sharing, mobile accessibility etc. But Mega is steps in front with their end to end encryption and options to set your permission levels like read only, read or write etc. So, here also Mega is a step ahead in competition.
  • Cost – Here Dropbox gives you some very good plans like $9.99 per month for 1TB storage space whereas Mega's lowest paid plan offers 500GB for $13 per month. Here I think Google Drive has tailor made plans for a medium scale user like for $2 for 100GB. Now Mediafire has an offer that is $4.99 per month for 1000 GB and that is a part of 50% off promotion. But being a new company, I would not use Mediafire but still stick with Google Drive which is already an established company. Reliability is an important factor for me.
  • Speed – I think there is no significant difference in the matter of speed among these online storage services we mentioned here. But I think Google Drive is an option with the lowest downtime history.
  • Mobile apps – This is a crucial factor in the present scenario. So, you can see most of them are mobile friendly as they know they cannot survive without being a mobile friendly platform. Mobile apps will help you to view and stream your files on the go.
  • Security – Mega got some definite edge here as they use an end-to-end encryption which allows data to be encrypted and decrypted only on the client side. This gives the best protection from cyber criminals and hackers. Dropbox uses a 256-bit AES encryption, but it also gives a two factor authentication option which gives some kind of an advantage. When it comes to security I think even MediaFire and Google Drive cannot compete with Mega. So, if you are really concerned about privacy of your data the best option is Mega.

To conclude Dropbox is easy to use, Mega is rich in space and security and MediaFire is an upcoming star in online storage and file sharing field. But Google Drive still suits my requirements of a medium level home user and also it is backed by the Internet giant called Google. Google Drive has evolved as one of the most feature rich online storage and file sharing services within a short span of time.

I have tried Dropox, it is a good storage service. However, I cannot tell about other services that you have mentioned. I think you should consider other options also. For example, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive are also good cloud storage. You get hug storage without no cost.

I am using Google Drive with 15GB free storage facility and I am fully satisfied with it. It sounds quite familiar to me to be with Google. Moreover I believe it's a stable platform backed by a company like Google. So, I haven't thought of a switch over till now, but I am planning to have a paid version in Google Drive shortly.

Mega is the heir to Dot Com's Mega Upload, which even he now says is probably not legal.

I use file-sharing a lot for work, that means sharing my files with business associates, not people who want stuff for free. I use Box for one-to-one and SharePoint for group sharing. For simulaneous work on the same document (same of different sites) I use Google docs.

The only reason to use Mega etc is to make files available to all comers, which more often the not means pirating. I have nothing to do with that or any company specifically designed to make it easier.

I guess it really depends on what you wan't to use it for. I mean, if you're looking for a reliable online storage company, nothing else beats the big companies such as Google. I personally save some of my personal files on my Google Drive (most of them are documents). Google has also announced that you can store unlimited photos, so if you're someone who takes a lot of pictures, Google Drive is the go to place to back-up them online.

But if you're looking to share your files, I'd choose Mediafire since it's free and doesn't have that much annoying advertisements. Dropbox, on the other hand, offers a generous space for all your back-up needs for free. I haven't really used Mega.nz so can't say much about it.

Well a very important factor for me is how much free storage they offer, since I'm from a third world country and $ is very expensive for me. So for this reason I prefer mega, they offer the most free storage.
Another important factor for me is linux compatibility and cross-platform. Dropbox has a good linux client but google doesnt have good linux support. Mega's client is pretty good.

Before now I think most people used Dropbox but Google drive is more popular now,it almost a replicate of Drop box services though it free for use,it has the functions of desktop to desktop file syncing and give a good amount of storage space. So one can comfortably use it free with Google account and get 15GB storage space.

Drop box is a very good for storage and I feel it is the best since it has been for a long time and has always been upgrading

I would choose Dropbox ahead the remaining two. But I would prefer Google drive.
Why I will choose Google drive ahead every other file sharing and storage is because it is from Google. And Google is a very trusted website that can never close it's services. Meaning that our files will be safe forever.

All three of these services offer great features, but they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Let's take a closer look at each one:

Mega is known for its high level of security, with all files being encrypted both at rest and in transit. It also offers a generous amount of free storage space, but its interface can be a bit confusing to navigate.

Dropbox is one of the most popular file sharing and storage services, and it's known for its user-friendly interface and wide range of integrations.

MediaFire is another popular file sharing and storage service that's known for its ease of use and generous free storage space.

Usually around 15 GB, Mega offers a sizable amount of free storage space that can be increased through referrals. Additionally affordably priced and providing more storage and features, their premium plans.
