In order to start coding your website, you need tools to get started with. They range from text editors to efficiency checkers, and they can be used for a lot of stuff.
Which ones would you recommend, including both offline and online tools?

The best programming program is Dreamweaver but it is a bit pricey. If you want a program for free there is bluefish. There are a lot of programs out there and it's all a question of finding one that suits you.

Programmers do not use Dreamweaver, that is a toy marketed at web designers, and not a very good one. I could not find a list of "useful" features that don't exist in better, cheaper editors. I hear Coda is pretty nice for Mac users, Windows users have access to Notepad++ (free) or Sublime Text (nagware).

I have been using notepad++ recently for HTML and CSS for coding. I am studying computing and I found that notepad++ is the best program available. Dreamweaver is also okay to use. notepad++ is probably my favourite though.

I used before Notepad++. But now I switched to Atom Text editor. It's easy to use and has a nice design. ;)

In creating programs using different programming/scripting languages I use different kinds of text editor. When it comes to web development, I use Sublime Text. There's a free version that you can download and use. What I like Sublime Text is it light weight and consumes only small amount of computer memory. It has intellisense that allows you to automatically insert HTML element. As you type the opening tag, you will be presented with options. Just in case you forgot the HTML tag that you need to use, you just have to select from the available options. You can change the background to fit in your preferred color. You could zoom in and zoom out so you could see clearly your codes.

When I'm creating programs in C#,C++,or Visual Basic, I use Visual Studio. When you install Visual Studio 2015 for example, it includes all the libraries (.Net framework) in order for you to create programs in C#, C++, or Visual Basic and comes with its own compiler. After you've typed your codes, you can compile and run it easily. There is an express edition of Visual Studio that you can download.

On the other hand, I use Eclipse when I'm creating programs in Java. And I think Eclipse is widely used in IT industry companies. When watch Java tutorial videos in youtube, lots of them are using eclipse. But eclipse used not only in Java. You could use eclipse in other programming languages.

I used DreamWeaver when I was in college. As long as I can remember, it has a drag and drop features of HTML elements.

But for those who are just new in web development, I recommend Sublime Text.

Try visual studio code, you will love it. It's perfect for the coding. It has intellisense and also other features. for example Git works better with VSC. And another thing is that visual studio code is very light weight app. and it can be seriously good as well. so on that note we have to understand that notepad plus hass lot to go up for. I think in future even the sublime text would be a much better editor.

Why not visual studio code. It is free. And it is much better than dreamweaver if you are using it for different coding langauges. Dreamweaver is pricey and old. And not much getting much benefit out of it. I don't see the reason for using it. in case of the visual studio code it is lightweight. And it can be good enough for the most of the usages. on that note I'd say it's worth using it for sure. you can also try the sublime text as well.

Oh yeah, I didn't know there's already a free editor from Visual Studio. Is it something like sublime?

If you are a beginner then you should give Dreamweaver a try or Microsoft FrontPage ( yes i know.. its old ) . If you are more experienced and you want some good text editors then you should look for Sublime Text . Its widely used and it has many plug-ins and stuff.

Take a look at the visual studio code : https://code.visualstudio.com/
It's free and it's like sublime text but even better on some points. it's lightweight. and also updaates are smaller. though some of the time the update on the languages need work. but overall it is a good tool. and it can be really good enough for making the code. you can also test out in the command prompt. so it works out fine on that part. i have tried it and continued to use it. though I'd say if you are comfortable with the sublime text then continue.
