Audacity is best known for being a free audio recorder and editor for quite a long time. One of its most appreciated features is that is simple yet very good audio editor which don't take up much of the space of hard drives.

I've used it to fine tune the voice of balabolka, removed unncessary noises and even take out the background music or remove the voice from a song, without downloading another musical piece from youtube. Very flexible indeed.

i have tried many times to do this , but it ended up with me ruining the song's quality , do you know any other way to do it properly ?

you have to do it several times.

1. back up the .mp3 you just downloaded

2. the best qualified for this is download an .mp3 with 2 tracks one using the voice and the other the music
this is where audacity will perform it's best, since it will separate the multi tracks into 2 tracks just detect where the voice is stored track 1 or track 2, then delete that track then you are left with minus one

but finding an instrumental for each song is kinda hard and almost impossible to do , i mean , instrumentals are available , but most of times i'm trying to work on romanian songs that are kinda not popular

hence you need to use this, mostly .mp3 now are in stereo version meaning they have 1 track where they keep the vocals and 1 track where they keep the musical instruments.
try opening your .mp3 in audacity and you'll see,
there are 3 cases presented in their tutorials, try one of them or each of them, it's trial and error thats why i said you back up first the mp3 and if it's not taken care of by the 3 cases presented, then try installing a plugin for audacity,
i think the tutorial is old so most probably this add-on or plugin is already built-in

I stumbled upon this software when I had a problem uploading a video to youtube that had copyrighted music in it , and I was recommended to use this software to separate the audio from the music , I failed to do so and I quit using it

and why would you audacity to separate the sound from a video anyways ? it's not the exact software for that , you should go for video editing softwares instead

I don't know about that , when I was looking for a way to separate audio from music I read that you have to convert the video to mp3 then proceed with audacity , anyways I lost interest in that when I did'nt succeed to extract the audio even though following the steps in the tuturial

yes audacity is for voice only i think i still have the old one the module/add-on they boast before now is already built-in with the freeware. i bet if i download the latest i'll be surprised with more built-in capabilities.
