With alot of project failing to deliver and some ending up as a total scam, alot of investors have finally lost fate in ICOs (Initial Coin Offering).
According to recent statistics, it's becoming really difficult for new projects to raise funds via ICO.
Now that ICOs are finally dead (or somewhat), the new hot method of crypto fund raising seems to be via IEO (Initial Exchange Offering). This is when funding raising takes place directly on an exchange usually using the exchange native token.
We've seem an example case with Binance Launchpad and BitTorrent where $7.2 million was raised in less than 15 minutes.
Personally i think the reason why most investors will be willing to invest in an IEO is cause they believe that most exchange have reputation they will like to protect and will only launch an IEO for a project after proper vetting of the project, this will reduce the case of investing in a scam or visionless project.
Alot of other exchanges have since joined the bandwagon of IEO like Huobi Prime, ABCC Launchpad, IDAX Launchpad etc.
Personally i don't see anything wrong with this but i just think this is more of centralization and will give some exchanges more power than necessary.
What do you think, do you believe that ICOs are dead and IEO is the future?

For those scammers, it's easy to start a fake ICO, thus new people in crypto world can be easily lured. In my understanding, IEO needs verification from the particular exchange.

IEO is only good and attractive on reputable exchanges. An IEO with lottery concept is good too it will prevent bot users. Some IEO's on OKEX, KUCOIN was sold out in seconds it makes some users believe its a bot.

This is the problem with this model of fund raising, it centralized and open to alot of manipulation. Like the case of the Bitorrent TokenSale stated above, the token sold out so quickly that most buyers were unable to purchase. Am guessing this is just happening cause this is yet a new model of fund raising and over time the whole hype will die down.

But this IEO on binance is better than any ICO, it is guaranteed to be listed on binance after the tokensale. It gives and adds some trust to the investors given that binance is very reputable, one of the top exchanges.

You are right! listing on a big exchange like Binance is really good but doesn't guarantee long term ROI. Also it already difficult for small legit projects to list on Binance due to high listing fee, now if IEO become the norm, it will be impossible for small projects to raise funds if they don't meet the requirement of the exchange or have a high listing fee. Am not trying to defend anything here, all am saying is that we already have the popular question "When Binance?", i guess the next most popular question now will be "IEO on Binance?" :)

You are right there is only few projects that reaches binance standard I think there is many projects that applies on binance and got rejected and also the fees is quite high.
I encountered a project that reaches HARDCAP running an ICO. I think this project started from scratch but you know what they do, they list on unfamiliar no volume exchange and traders has no interest and their token is down 90%.
Base on what I have research they are legit partnered with amazon and still they are saving money for listing on good exchanges.

What Project is that? (just curious)

Also listing on an unknown, low volume exchange is really a terrible move cause in most cases you just have people wanting to dump (especially airdroppers / bounty hunters) and little people interested in actually purchasing. Also i think we've attain a point in crypto were we just have too many projects than investors so new projects need time + strategic plans in order to succeed.

OMG! It never cross my mind that you were referring to Hara!
Yeah! I saw their series of post last year about Amazon CTO visiting HARA, whether it was a direct partnership with Amazon, am not so sure (i stood to be corrected).
Am thinking it more of the guy having interest in the project or Amazon trying to help small startup like Hara (since the project is based on helping Indonesian farmers).
Yeah, the project looks really promising and i still hold the 100 HART i got from it airdrop.

For me I would rather invest in ieo . I have completely lost faith in ICO . even if its a trusted ICO I think its gonna take some time until it hits an exchange with ieo tho you can start trading rightaway

I agree with this, ICOs are dead. I have participated in some projects that were successful with their fund raising only for them to take forever to list or list low volume/unknown exchange thereby killing the coin price and causing investors to lose. Am still watching IEOs, but with almost all exchanges (both well known and unknown) launching an IEO platform, i think it up to investors to be smart by doing proper research before making any investment.
