ASO (Appstore Search Optimization) is a bit different from SEO in the sense that ASO are methods employed in order to better rank on App in search results on appstores like Google Playstore or iOS appstore. Although it shares some similarities with SEO because just like SEO it's mostly based on keywords but ASO techniques are not quite as popular as SEO so will love to know if anyone have any recent ASO resource they can recommend.

I would strongly having a look deeper into Content Marketing instead for trying to promote apps. Reaching out to existing top 10 blog lists etc on google for your keywords to drive installs. This is going to pay off better in the long term. Alternative.to is also a good place to list your app against your biggest competition. Get people to upvote your listing and you will show up for your major competition. Most people only have like 20 up votes on there.

That alternative.to method alone allowed up to grow a SaaS from 0 - 1000 users in a few months, with one listing alone.

Besides having your title and description correct, there isn't really much else that you can do other that making sure your app is actually decent, people positively review it, install it and continue to use it.

Sorry for the late reply, i wasn't notified of your post.

You've stated a very good point! Personally I feel alternative.to is more suited for desktop apps than mobile apps or am missing something?

Also how effective is content marketing for small developers especially one with small budget.

Hey mate,

Its for everything but its still worth getting your app up on the site as people will still find it.

As for content marketing, you can hire someone from Onlinejobs.ph for around 580 USD per month (38 hour per week) who will be able to do this for you. Thats a small price to pay. If you really cant afford that then manual outreach would be the way to go until you gain enough momentum. Personally as soon as I had the funds, I would hire someone to do outreach and content marketing full time. This way you would see results faster!

You don't need a monster budget, just be strategic with where you spend your time in the early days.
