Landing Pages.jpg

In this tutorial, I'll talk about the different types of landing pages and sales funnels an affiliate marketer can use. In affiliate marketing we can use three different types of landing pages:
  • Micro Sites
  • Internal Pages
  • Standalone Pages
Each different type of landing page has a specific goal and the desired outcome. The landing pages can be hosted on your website, float alone or they can actually be part of a microsite you've created for your affiliate marketing products. The main goal behind the landing page is to get the visitor to engage and take the desired action.

Landing Pages Desired Outcome:

When building a landing page there are only two desired outcomes:
  • A landing page that captures leads. The leads will be used later on for marketing purposes.
  • To get a person interested in a particular product you are selling them before you send them off to the sales funnel.
The first landing page is known as a lead generation landing page and the second is known as a click-through page.

Different Types Of Landing Pages:
  • Click Through – this is used to promote or sell a product. The person will click on the link to enter the sales funnel.
  • Sales Funnels – this is normally 3 to 5 pages about a product that is created to convert a person into buying a particular product or service.
  • Advetorials – this type of landing page is actually a pre-landing page that was designed as a pre-sales page.
  • Lead Capture – most people in this industry will refer to this as a squeeze page. They are used for capturing an email address or even a phone number.
  • Viral – these types of landing pages will encourage the visitor to take a viral action. This could be through a social media network or a large group of people.
  • Microsite – this is a small website that has 3 to 5 pages. it is still considered a landing page, however, the product you are promoting needs a bit more space to promote.
  • Infomerical or Product Detail – these types of landing pages are a scroll down page, that are normally very long. They are built to try and suck the visitor in. I personally hate these types of landing pages and stay away from them.
  • Call For Action – this type of landing page normally has some sort of a button or link that you want the person to click on.
Affiliate Marketing Sales Funnel:

The sales funnel is a term that is used in affiliate marketing. This is the journey a potential prospect will take on his way to purchasing the product you're advertising. The sales funnel is broken down into 3 different stages:
  • All the potential customers who are interested or have heard about the product you are offering.
  • The smaller part of the group who wants to learn more about the product.
  • The smallest part of the group who will contact you.
The reason they call this a sales funnel is that when you start out there is a very large group of people and by the time you finish the group is filtered down to a much smaller group. This group normally will buy the products you are advertising. The funnel has 3 parts:
  • Top – the top of the funnel is marketing
  • Middle – the sales process
  • Bottom – the final customer and the sale
Awareness:

The first part of the marketing funnel is known as awareness. This is the part of the funnel that is used to make people aware of a product or service you're promoting. The person comes to your landing page because they have heard about this product or service through a social media account, advertising on TV or the newspaper, or they heard about it by word of mouth. They are coming to your landing page because they are curious and want to learn more.

If a person moves down the sales funnel it will all depend on you and how you've marketed the product. It is your responsibility in the first stage of the sales funnel to attract and interest the person in the product. If you've done a good job the person will move down the funnel to the second stage.

Pitch Mode:

Normally this is the second stage of the sales funnel where you'll be speaking directly to the prospect. At this stage, you could offer the person a demonstration of the product. However, if you're only an affiliate marketer this might not be possible. You may need to pass this lead onto the company and let one of their sales reps handle the demonstration. The sales rep can demonstrate the product and work with the prospect. However, you'll still earn your commission for sending the lead to the company if the person converts.

Closed:

This is the final stage of the sales funnel where the person buys the product or service you are promoting. As an affiliate marketer, you'll earn your commission for each sale that you send to the marketing company.

Here you can see how important the landing page and sales funnel are. The two work hand in hand to inform the site visitor about the products or services you're offering. If you do an excellent job with your landing page the prospect will move down the sales funnel. At this stage, it is up to you to work with the customer until they reach the end of the sales funnel and convert.

A landing page is the first page that a visitor sees when they click on your affiliate link. It should be designed to capture the visitor's attention and convince them to take the next step, which is usually to sign up for a free trial or make a purchase. A sales funnel is a series of pages that take the visitor through the entire sales process. It starts with the landing page and ends with the thank you page after the purchase is made.

It is important to clear that landing pages and sales funnels are very crucial element that we should take note of in affiliate marketing campaign because it will act as a guide for potential customers.

The sales funnel are very essential because they are sequences of steps that are designed that would definitely lead to a prospective conversion and that is why it is important to take this into consideration.

Whenever you want to create a landing page for affiliate marketing, it is very important to focus on clear and also on a compelling message which will indicate the highlights or the benefits of the product that has been promoted.

It is crucial to ensure that we use a persuasive copywriting because that should make it compelling and it should help capture the interest of the visitors and encourage them to take the necessary steps in purchasing the products.

It is better to test different elements of landing pages such as headlines, images and call to actions because this is what will help to determine which of the variations performed best.

Building emails list and segmenting them based on user behavior and interest would allow the affiliate to deliver message that are targeted to certain segment and it should resonate with the audience as well.
