In this tutorial, I'll talk about the different types of landing pages and sales funnels an affiliate marketer can use. In affiliate marketing we can use three different types of landing pages:
- Micro Sites
- Internal Pages
- Standalone Pages
Landing Pages Desired Outcome:
When building a landing page there are only two desired outcomes:
- A landing page that captures leads. The leads will be used later on for marketing purposes.
- To get a person interested in a particular product you are selling them before you send them off to the sales funnel.
Different Types Of Landing Pages:
- Click Through – this is used to promote or sell a product. The person will click on the link to enter the sales funnel.
- Sales Funnels – this is normally 3 to 5 pages about a product that is created to convert a person into buying a particular product or service.
- Advetorials – this type of landing page is actually a pre-landing page that was designed as a pre-sales page.
- Lead Capture – most people in this industry will refer to this as a squeeze page. They are used for capturing an email address or even a phone number.
- Viral – these types of landing pages will encourage the visitor to take a viral action. This could be through a social media network or a large group of people.
- Microsite – this is a small website that has 3 to 5 pages. it is still considered a landing page, however, the product you are promoting needs a bit more space to promote.
- Infomerical or Product Detail – these types of landing pages are a scroll down page, that are normally very long. They are built to try and suck the visitor in. I personally hate these types of landing pages and stay away from them.
- Call For Action – this type of landing page normally has some sort of a button or link that you want the person to click on.
The sales funnel is a term that is used in affiliate marketing. This is the journey a potential prospect will take on his way to purchasing the product you're advertising. The sales funnel is broken down into 3 different stages:
- All the potential customers who are interested or have heard about the product you are offering.
- The smaller part of the group who wants to learn more about the product.
- The smallest part of the group who will contact you.
- Top – the top of the funnel is marketing
- Middle – the sales process
- Bottom – the final customer and the sale
The first part of the marketing funnel is known as awareness. This is the part of the funnel that is used to make people aware of a product or service you're promoting. The person comes to your landing page because they have heard about this product or service through a social media account, advertising on TV or the newspaper, or they heard about it by word of mouth. They are coming to your landing page because they are curious and want to learn more.
If a person moves down the sales funnel it will all depend on you and how you've marketed the product. It is your responsibility in the first stage of the sales funnel to attract and interest the person in the product. If you've done a good job the person will move down the funnel to the second stage.
Pitch Mode:
Normally this is the second stage of the sales funnel where you'll be speaking directly to the prospect. At this stage, you could offer the person a demonstration of the product. However, if you're only an affiliate marketer this might not be possible. You may need to pass this lead onto the company and let one of their sales reps handle the demonstration. The sales rep can demonstrate the product and work with the prospect. However, you'll still earn your commission for sending the lead to the company if the person converts.
Closed:
This is the final stage of the sales funnel where the person buys the product or service you are promoting. As an affiliate marketer, you'll earn your commission for each sale that you send to the marketing company.
Here you can see how important the landing page and sales funnel are. The two work hand in hand to inform the site visitor about the products or services you're offering. If you do an excellent job with your landing page the prospect will move down the sales funnel. At this stage, it is up to you to work with the customer until they reach the end of the sales funnel and convert.
