In 2016 there was a hacker who managed to hack the Bitfinex site and stole a total of 119 thousand BTC. this is over two billion dollars in bitcoin.

Now whilst this may seem like a long time ago, the Btcparser program recently picked up that on Wednesday, 2034 BTC was moved to unknown wallets in five transactions. The bitcoin that was transferred was sitting without any movement whatsoever, and no transactions for close to four years, since the hack and is not moving to wallets.

What do you feel that this movement means? Is this a reason to be concerned? Could such a large transaction affect the market?

Also, why do you guys think this BTC was idle for four years and is now being moved? One would think that they would have used the BTC before this time, correct?

I don't think there should be more concerned because it's still on probability if the amount of bitcoin was moved by the hacker or not.

I see the hacker to have kept this amount of btc for 4years has a very patient thief and moving it now was really a calculative step. But I don't really think it will affect anything

i think it was idle for this four years in order not to be tracked after the hack . the only thing i think that might happen is the price to be affected small

The hackers most times are experts that have done their home work well enough to avoid being tracked. So the hacker wanted to avoid being discovered at all cost.

Well this is true but recently , they are easily tracked especially when they want to convert their stolen things to fiat currency . Cryptocurrency is getting better

Then this is a nice move if they can easily be tracked now because they wreck more havoc especially to new users that don't really know how things works and get them discouraged immediately

Well, a very high and unimaginable sum for me and for most of the mere mortals!
This makes me think that even in the crypto world, nothing is safe anymore, like in a strongbox!
You believe?
Yeah no safety anywhere, that is why the onus is on the users to see that they can protect their funds to a very large extent. Exchanges aren't even safe

I believe nothing is more safe, if not the only our savings ...
Do you agree?

Yeah our savings is like our treasure and as such it should be treated as one. Whenever we deposit our funds we should try to safe guard till it came back to us.
Exactly. I don't want to be too pessimistic. But you know, now I don't even believe in the safety of our funds in the banks anymore!

The movement of this huge amount of bitcoin will be felt by the exchange platform so obviously the need to track final destination of the funds and it uses is necessary

Since these funds were not stolen , I don't think that it is necessary to track the final destination of them . Unless for them to know the reason behind the withdrawal

The reason could best be known to the owner of the bitcoin, possibly he wants to invest in another platform which could yiled him more profit instead of the bitcoin been idle there.
