Around a 1000 crypto projects in Estonia lost their official crypto licenses after the Estonian government decided to take stricter measures against the use of cryptocurrencies. The government thinks that cryptocurrencies could be used for illegal purposes such as money laundering. Estonia is a small country with a weak economy, and the use of crypto could actually help the country's economy grow much further. I don't know why they are taking such harsh measures. What do you guys think?

I think they are right if people start taking funds from banks out they economy will weaken further so in order to make it remain in stable position that's a tight but right move

There are two sides of the coin, one is that the government wants to participate in the profits and the other is that there must be good regulation for crypto projects, since it is certain that they are used a lot for money laundering.

I think the government is actually doing so to ease criminal activities , but instead of banning an stopping those crypto project , the government could find means to track those criminals

It is perhaps the tendency of Governments everywhere to take Big Bang measures instead of going for the painstaking, time taking ones which involve more efficiency and skill. Perhaps it is lack of money. Or moreover lack of willingness !

Well , I disagree a bit because if they do not take stricter measures and people start buying crypto will all money their currency will start getting weaker in financial markets and they will have to ban than later so earlier doing is best thing in my opinion

The Government might have come across some information that indicated the use of Crypto for illegal activities.
However, sometimes going extra strict also does not helps as that helps the Grey or the Black Market.
I think going extra strict is the best because it would reduce crime rate , there are even coins that are now very hard to trace i think , so going extra really helps

Yet that "Extra Strictness" of Governments also curbs chances and opportunities for honest folks like us!
:)

However, with extra restrictions due to these stricter measures, if folks like us want to trade more incrementally, we have to check options that are not simple. In a more widespread use, its use can be as simple as some other things like Ecommerce buying - selling that we do.

Yea that truth is that everyone would be affected , for things to go on smoothly i think , so the government is really trying hard to make things easy

Yes , without banning cryptocurrency they could have increased security of buying and selling cryptocurrency. This will not help much on reducing crime rate other than tracking crimes.

Yes, I agree that the use of crypto currency can actually help an economy, so I'm wondering the ban, well the authority that just be seeing what we are not seeing

That would have meant massive Technological upgrades or changes and that takes time, money and effort. Banning entities looks like more of a quick fix- a kind of a Security Patch !!
