Let's pretend I hacked someone's Facebook account and substract valuable informations from private messages.

Can I go to jail if they catch me somehow?

Hacking and stealing someones faxebook information is bad and the person would definitely go to jail for it , because you hacking it have a reason

Once you hack a facebook account you are definitely going to jail , because you are involved in stealing the person private details since you have a reason hacking it

Why would you want to do that if not for scam. You definitely want to use someone else details to scam people. It is a crime and yes you will be jailed if caught so don't do it.

Just buy phone verified accounts, no need to hack someone's else account if you want to. And unlike what other people say in this thread, Facebook won't do nothing about that, depends on what you're planing to do with said account.

Getting caught for hacking someone else's facebook account and stealing private information can really cause one to spend a jail term. Being reported for such a crime can be really bad.

You may not go to jail but ask yourself some moral questions. Is it fair to the owner of facebook account?Do you believe in reaping and sowing, and do you believe there is an unseen eyes watching you.Normally hacking into somebody's account means you are morally bankruptcy and one day your evil deed may catch up with you.Hacking into a person's account comes with uterior motives and that is why it is bad

Its obvious thst if you are caught charges will be pressed against you and ghdvdsmages thst the person will claim are what will leverage the severity of your crime. You could serve some time for that so please desist from such ideas.

Yeah there are laws against them in most countries and they take it serious , most might go to jail for a long term or some might face serious punishment

To jail? It depends on the country you live in and the laws that govern the country on hacking.
Hacking is an illegal thing to do. Of course, if you did in my country, you can possibly get jailed. If you don't mind why do you want to hack someone's else account?
Yeah, the laws are that way in my country and many other countries. You will either pay a large fee or go to jail. People who hack other people's account could either want to steal private information or just to huniliate the person.

Even in my country, we have a cybercrime unit that deals with this sort of thing. The crime carries a hefty fee and/or a lengthy jail term. I'm glad countries the world over are standing up and taking action against these crimes because they continue to evolve and become more and sophisticated, preying on unsuspecting people.

I think with the percentage i have seen more scam to steal or use the person social media to extort from his followers than to take only private information

Identify fraud is real and can be such a nightmare. I once saw a documentary of this lady who had her identity stolen by someone and it went on for about a decade because the person was very clever at carrying on undetected. The problem was it was getting this poor lady in trouble with the law because the thief was getting up to countless crimes. But luckily, the police were ultimately able to crack the case and the victim could finally get on with her life. Scary stuff!

First of all, it's illegal but if you want to do it for fun and steal important or private points from messages then you should be able to get punishment, not from police but from the owner of Facebook account.
Because ,if you are thinking so, you can give some money to police and get off from prison...lolxxx
But if the owner ll catch you ,he ll surely give you such lesson that you ll never do such type of crime next time...

That is really so scary. Someone else using your identity to do illegal stuff can lead you to being in trouble with the law. Sometimes the investigating officers are not good enough and you end up paying for crimes that you did not commit.

I know! You should've seen the lady - she lost weight and plunged into the depth of depression, understandably. It really was hell on earth for her because for a very long time, the police thought she was lying. I really felt her pain.

Yeah i think they can file you a case for their privacy invasion. Cyber bullying and depending on whats your intention to do that.. it's not good to invade someone's privacy.

Apart from invading someone privacy hacking someone facebook account is like stealing ,because the person is taking the account that doesn't belong to him or her , so more punishment for the person

I certainly hope people who do that have the harshest punishment meted out against them. It's a gross invasion of privacy and doesn't always stop there. These unscrupulous hackers can wreak havoc with your life and it's not on at all!

Yeah i think implementing strict laws and punishment against them might at least help , only that the government arent concerned about that , to minimise the effect

That's always the issue - many governments don't really monitor and regulate the online space. Look how long it's taken them to look seriously at cyberbullying. But it's really vital that they do implement strict laws and solid punitive measures to deter these unsavoury types.
