I don't know if yahoo dominates the search engines. There has to be some sort of difference for the two search engines not to clash all the time. There will always be people that will give preference to one despite the other.

Yahoo answers is going down, what is shown more often in searches is Quora answers, at least this is what I see on my end.

On some things, Google tries to give relevant content while they skew and misdirect people on other topics, be them political agendas and whatnot. I've tested that and have seen it repeatedly with specific searches that are not popular with the public or what they want the public to be. Even when I put it in quotes, they still give me the opposite of what I asked for, which reveals the agenda that way and in what it is I was searching for when they decided to refuse any other results but the ones they wanted to be seen. For everyday results, they would use Yahoo because it has such an enormous amount of questions and answers already there.

Quora is a bigger system and gaining content gradually to rival Yahoo Answers as I.C. said, and it will probably be just a few more years before Yahoo Answers is either bought or merged with Quora in some way. If not, I hope that they retain a searchable archive of the Yahoo results for it. While some of the answers were comical or just plain ridiculous, there is still a lot of very good advice and content to be had from Yahoo Answers, and it would be worth keeping even if as a library online.

I can't get into a deep discussion about which is better in terms of what is searched and all that hoo-hash, what I do know is which search engine I prefer - and that my friend is Google. I do all of my searching for anything in Google. I do not use Ask.com or Yahoo Answers or even their Yahoo search engine. I do agree that Yahoo Answers has really gone down in my opinion, but I'm sure there are a lot of people that still enjoy this alternative.

Yahoo was the best site for Question and answers, however we see a lot of sites that are coming up in the market. I think Quora pays clients for posting comments, that's why the answers are in brief paragraphs while yahoo have copied content or short lines. Thus Google is giving more weight to Quora answers than Yahoo as per the content.

That is kind of weird that Yahoo answers comes up, but to be honest I am glad it does because I actually like the site. I cannot really say whether it has gone down or whatever because I do not pay that much attention to it, but I like the whole set up where people just answer common questions. I wish they had more answers though instead of just displaying two.

This is true no one can judge personal interest, even though this pie chart will definitely shows what most people like.

LOL, well there you have it then. Most people obviously prefer Google to any other SE. I had forgotten completely about Bing. I have tried Bing on a few occasions in the past and I hated it immensely. I don't know, but it was always something about it I didn't like. Some of those I haven't even heard of.

To address the rivalry issue, Google as a search engine must return all the relevant search results. It doesn't matter whether what their uses is searching for is on a site owned by Yahoo, Facebook or any of their rivals. They can't allow prejudices to negatively impact the quality of their search results.

That said, when you use a question as your search phrase there's a high likelihood that Q and A sites will be returned in the SERPs and since Yahoo Answers and Quora happen to be the more popular ones, you'll regularly see them in the SERPs. But they [Google] mix up the results so in case you don't find what you are looking for on Q and A, sites you can take a look at some of the other sites.

Yahoo answers is a quick and easy of finding information out. I often use Yahoo to ask the community about backlinks and SEO, and I've managed to increase within #10 pages now. Definitely worth it asking the community for answers

Well for me I like Quora answers better it gices more insight maybe because people are paid to give those answers while yahoo gives shallow answers but it good to have all of them.for better comparison.

I hate Yahoo. Yahoo isnt a great search engine, it always pops up a ad for me thats worthless. And when im on a website yahoo pops up and the website i was on is gone. Yahoo is really annoying, google is better cause it always shows me the right pages and images. Plus on yahoo when i search up for a website it will only show other websites with the same name.

Yahoo is also good, but earning opportunity in yahoo is for US people, while Google is open for global use; so Yahoo SEO is not an important matter to many people; but it is good to get US clicks on adsense.

For me, i like google more. It gives me a lot of result to choose from whenever I am doing a research. When I am seaching on yahoo, i see almost the same results.

I like Google and Yahoo too.Google has a higher rating than Yahoo.Google was founded 1998 and Yahoo was founded in 1995,and even if Google was founded 3 years later,seems that is the favorite SE for many people before Yahoo.

I will support all the search engine, but only keep Google's adsense because there is nothing else; however we will get visits and clicks from all search engine.

Google.com is only site which recieves highest largest visitor than other site and its rank is 1st and on second Facebook comes then on third Youtube in term of traffic n visitors .its the biggest search engine -no comparasion with others its oldest also so no its best in every term from making money to etc bussiness .

Actually, yahoo is older. It was introduced 1995, while google was introduced 1998. But as the time passes, almost all of the new device such as laptop or pc used google as the default search engine which made people very familiar to the site.

Yes ,,, u are absolutely right google is more popular than yahoo because of its features and easy to use service and its result are updated than yahoo and google also collaborate with top sites of world like Youtube which comes under it and the main rwason is that Google is largest online company in term of Revenue !!.
