Buying and selling domain names for higher price still works?

Not as used to couple years ago but still the market of buying and selling domains names dindn't die like many people said is just known fact that domains are more and more registered and developed and there's few left to sell as premium domains...

Yes indeed buy and selling of domains still works. But the only thing which you gonna need to remember is it should be brand-able and catchy. Sometimes good alexa domains like >1K alexa would also getting highest bid.

You can easily list your domain to sell on godaddy auctions.

This has been tremendous thing for doing business as we see so many tld's in the market to kill domain business. Most people are getting domains what they want easily by using another tld.

I saw recently Travel tld that caters for making travel site and many keywords are available to register. My honest thing is not to invest in domains right now as you will be just keeps on registering them.

All I know is that very few months I am approached by people who have bought variants on my more successful urls, wanting me to give them money for them. LOL. As if. the days when you bought every version and suffix are long gone.

I suspect it takes a very particular talent to choose enough names that people will pay premium prices for for it to be worthwhile. It is essentially a kind of gambling.

Seems like you could really nail something, but it would be rare.

I would try to stay super up to date on current events and if something weird/crazy happened, go and buy that url real quick.

I'm just curious as to what the difference would be between buying and selling domain names versus domain squatting.

Would anybody care to enlighten me here? It would be much appreciated.

I think not as much as they once did. There are still domains that are very valuable because of the traffic that's associated to them, but then you aren't just buying the domain but possible a audience for your site.

If you can find a good .com domain, it is likely that you can sell it. These days new domains are coming in the market and many people if they do not get .com, switch to other domain.

I think that flippa allows you to sell only domain names with generic tlds. If you pay the basic listing fee then your domain will not be visible to many people. They usually want you to pay the promotional fee of $250 before information about your domain is emailed and twitted to its users. You can also sell your domain on godaddy. It's not easy to come up with a good name and it's like all good domain names with generic tlds have already been registered. You will need to register a lot of domain names but even though you'll do that you are still not guaranteed that you will at the end sell your domain name.

Only a few days ago did I come across this, facebook decided to buy fb.com. It paid $8.5 million for it. I think that sites can still be very valuable it really depends what it's name is and if there is someone willing to pay the price you are asking for it.

Buying and selling domain names for higher price still works?
well it was working 2 years back. some people made a lot of money by domain hunting. THis was really profitable as people were buying a domain of about 1-5$ and they used to sell at $200-$1000. A knew a guy who made alot of money from this work even he bought a car by earning with domains. i don't know where he is now. I think it still works a bit.

It still works. People are looking for domains that are straight to the point. Most of them are taken, so they have to settle for something that they don't want. If you have a domain that is short and straight to the point, you will get sales.

It still works. However, lots of people have invested in it and it seemed like the industry is growing daily with newbies. I have had the opportunity to read and interact with people on one the sites that is mainly dedicated for this business. I have also invested in it, honestly, I got my hands burned. I didn't understand much of the factors to be considered before investing in this business. Though I have learned my lesson, I still read more about domaining to further widen my knowledge on it.

Also, domaining should be considered as an extra stream of income especially for newbies, even though it can give high ROI. The reason for this is that, sales don't come daily. And it could be so frustrating for newbies as it requires patience.

I do understand that there are some people who are into full time domaining. These people are experts so they make lots of cash from it. For them, domaining may or may not be an extra stream of income.

Domain values are based on many things. If it's new domain and not used then keyword and branding possibilities are taking into context. And then the value is being extracted after developing the domain. though not a lot of people can make money off domains. but ffrom what i have learned it'd be reasonable to earn money from the domains. I have found out that domain name club from godaddy cna be good for this.

I have seen people selling domains. im also interested to buy domain someday i need domain for blogs. ive been searching for free domains coz im too lazy buying domains i need to keep my earnings so that i can fund my School fees yes im studying again i'm a college graduate but taking up Law hope ill pass so that someday i can defend the poor people here in my country and offer a cheap price thats all haha thankyou

Of course still working but not that much,I have spent couple of years learning but then I quit!
It seems to be an easy market but actually the reality it isn't.
now I am keen on affiliate marketing but really regretting my passed two years trying to learn domain
flipping professionally although that I got no single sale.
It's addictive, It's enjoyable but set your mind first, good luck.

The problem with newbies in domaining sometimes is greediness and impatience. I'm also a newbie in a domaining, I'm still learning too. You see someone would handreg a domain for less than $10 and would be pricing it a $1200 or more. Seriously, that is cool cash but for a quick flipp, that amount would to too much for resellers to buy. Also, domaining is like an investment, any investment requires patience. Take domaining as a supplementary business and not a full time business.

I have never done it. Personally, I would never know it still works or not but possible some people could making money out of doing this.
